hi, just joined the forum and wanted to say hi! i live in the u.k. and love station wagons, particularly early 70s vista cruisers, colony parks, country squires etc. have a ford pick up at the moment but a wagon is on the agenda next year!
pickup an 87 ranger with a camper top, nothing in the us but unusual in the uk! often go camping with kids, dog etc really useful for that but i really need a wagon!
The more weird the better. Maybe you like the hide-away headlamps on the Chevy Caprice estate wagon or the 72 Dodge Monaco. Maybe your into the Oldsmobile front clip on the Vista Cruiser or the 70s bi-sexual tailgates. The wagon is no longer the soccer moms car.
G'Day Herb. You won't feel right until you get a decent wagon. You should be able to find a rustfree project wagon in most south-central US states or really cold states like North or South Dakota.
careful...what you wish for Herb... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230411779999&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123
Hello Herb, welcome to the club! When I was in England in 1996, I saw a mid 80s Caprice and a late 80s Crown Victoria. They looked HUGE next to everything else.
thanks for your kind welcome. there are a few wagons for sale in uk but after visiting california and florida in the last few years and seeing what was for sale there i'm thinking of combining holiday/wagon purchase/roadtrip? its only money right?!!!
Driving it home from the States is going to be an adventure... Keep the pedal down and don't let up for nothing!!!! I wonder how much trans-Atlantic shipping would cost for 4000 lbs of wagon? If you are going through the trouble of traveling out of country to find one, Australia would be a good place to get a right-hand drive wagon unless driving on the "wrong" side is part of the appeal for you. Oh yeah, to our wagon train, Herb.
