Hey everyone, just joined up today and wanted to express my love for old wagons! Ive always loved station wagons right from my first ride in one. My grandparents had an old 60's Ford wagon and i loved hanging my feet out the back window as a kid while rolling down the highway! I've had several over the years including three 73 Chevy Impala and Caprices, one 71 Kingswood, one 64 Catalina, one 75 Olds Custom Cruiser, a 69 Cadillac ambulance, a 63 330, a 68 and 70 Chrysler T&C, a 77 Buick, several 80's of various brands, a 66 and 68 Falcon, a pair of 58 Delray 2dr sedan deliveries, a 58 Pontiac Pathfinder 2dr, a 55 Pontiac Safari 2dr, a 60 Falcon, a 70 Ford LTD, a 73 Mercury Montego a 56 Ford 2dr Ranch Wagon, a 57 Ford 2dr Ranch Wagon and a 58 Meteor 2dr Sedan Delivery. Im sure there have been more but i dont remember them all at the moment. Some of them were in good shape and some were in horrible shape but i felt the same about every one. Im always on the hunt for more in any condition in my area. I would like to have just one real nice wagon one of these days to drive around but i have to finish my other projects first
to the wagon train, hemi-cammer. Sounds like you've had quite the assortment of wagons over the years.
HC Welcome from the colder Great White North! Who did that song... "Did you ever have to make up your mind?" Oh yeah, the Lovin' Spoonfull! Sounds like the search continues.
There is a great wagon for sale right here! http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6767 Rust free for your years of enjoyment.
Nice wagonistory !! and a fellow BC'r..?...how is it that we have not crossed paths with your wagon past and mine...?? to our garage...your buying the beer next time...........
Heh, well BC is a big place! Beer? sure, we've got a whole brewery full just across town Here are some pics of my wagons, remember i havent really had any pretty ones but that doesnt matter to me! -First is my 73 Montego that i still have, 351C automatic. Runs and drives but rusty and was sitting for a long time. -Next is my 70 Chrysler Town & Country and 64 Catalina (both gone) -Next is a 68 Chrysler Town & Country with power windows and disc brakes (still have) -Next is a 71 Kingswood that hit a ???? when sonnyboy borrowed it from his parents one night and had too much reefer! (gone) -Last is a 73 Impala i saved from a junkyard complete with 400/TH350 (gone)
First is a 74 Gran Torino Squire that i dragged from the bush where it spent much of its life. The 351C/automatic was revived and the car was demo derbied. I know many of you are going to disagree with derbying but this car was destined for the crusher anyhow unfortunately. Some salvagable parts were sent to better homes instead of discarded and i saved the eng/trans as well. Next is my 75 Olds. I still have it but the 455/400 was removed as part of the deal. It sat for over a decade after being a daily driver and as you can see its parking spot wasnt a metal friendly one. Third is a car i rescued from the crusher, it found a good home in Montana after we got the 400/350 running again Next is a 68 Falcon i still have, some friends bought some remote property that came with the car and they didnt want it. A case of beer and it was mine! Last is a 1960 Falcon wagon i had many many years ago. It sat in the bush for a long time and i ended up parting it out.
First is a 71 Torino Squire i saved from getting derbied up north. I brought it home and saved all the good parts amongst the rusty ones. I rebuilt the 351C and put it in my 78 F150 4x4 which i still have today. Second is an 80 LeMans wagon that i was saving for a 455/400 install. Im pretty sure it had a 301 in it already which is why it was such a great swap candidate. Unfortunately some idiot busted up the car thinking it was a junker.... Third is a 1969 Cadillac Ambulance that i dragged out of the bush. The previous owner daily drove it after it went out of service on the west coast. I eventually had to let it go where it was used as a parts donor. Fourth is a 55 Safari wagon i found on the praries, i didnt even get it home and a guy made me an offer i couldnt refuse. Last is one of two 58 Delray sedan deliveries i brought home back to back. They were just over 1000 miles away from my home but i had to have them!
First is the better of the two 58 Delrays, they both went to a good home to be restored. Second is what ive been told is a pretty rare car, a 58 2dr Pontiac Pathfinder. It went to the same home as the Delrays. Next is probably what was my wagon that was in the best condition. 63 Dodge 330 with a 313 Poly (not 318) and push button automatic. Its since been put back on the road and also the track! Soon to have a 413 under the hood. Last is a 67 Monaco that i found in an alley. It hit a pole and was parked, we drove it home and i gave it to a friend who is currently redoing it and plans to make it a daily driver!
k...hemi...you must know my Wagons of Steel 'north' freinds... your collection sounds and looks familiar...for some strange reason hellofa collection !!
Yes i do know Pat and Graham and the boys, i live only 150kms from them. They have shopped in my yard plus Graham is the one who now owns the '63 Dodge. They're a good bunch of guys and i wish i had more time to hang out with them! Heres a pic of Graham going down the strip in Mission in the 330 :2_thumbs_up_-_anima
