I don't know what used car values are in NC, but up here in Michigan, thats a $500 to $750 car, all day long. Too many repairs to be top dollar, but nothing major enough to pass on.

The irony, though, up here the junkya..er,"salvage facilities" are full of 'em. And they have relatively low mileage(for a volvo).

The turbo cars are fairly bulletproof as long as they don't blow ANY smoke. If taken care of, they don't usually show thier age until about 300,000.

My uncle has had alot of Volvos and a friend of his is a Volvo mechanic. Seems like the best ones have been the mid 80s to early 90s models... especially the 240s. One Volvo that I was warned to stay away from is the early 1999-2000 S80. They are nice looking, but horrible cars from what I have heard and this was from folks on the Volvo forums and my uncles friend that works on Volvos.

    Good luck!
