I don't know when exactly, but it seems to me that Ford owns a big chunk of Volvo. The mid to late 80's models were a heck of a car, as were the 60's and 70's cars. I almost bought a new P1800 in 1968 when I was in the Army, but I got a deal on 1963 Olds Starfire. No mileage in a 394 Olds. engine.

I have only seen one P1800 my whole life.I always liked them the first time I seen one was on TV when Roger Moore Played The Saint in the 60's and seen one In VA right after I got out of the Army.

I worked as a lot boy at a Jag and Volvo dealership for a short while back in the 80's. I got to drive a lot of cars, and those volvo turbo-wagons are smokin'. The one you're looking at is probably quite tired, though. Might need an engine rebuild. I'm hoping I that I can find one in minty condition for MY next car.

MY 97 Volvo 850 wagon has been relatively trouble free, but when things do break, it is costly. Mine has a 5 cylinder engine, which us not the most fuel efficient.

My first wagon was a Subaru Loyale (Same thing as the old GL/DL), which took took a quite a beating and never needed anything major. It also got good gas mileage as it was a FWD 5 speed.

Mine was the same colour as this one.

My first car in high school about 1975 was a '68 P1800S, a hand me down car from my brother. When my parents bought it looked really nice but it was originally from MI and after a few years it rusted really bad from the inside out, I mean really bad!

We had replaced the speedometer at one time so we really never knew how many miles was on it. I drove that car all over hell & back. By the time I was done with it, it must had to have well over 300,000 miles on it!

I had a lot of fun it that car. Ahhhh, the memories!

Best thing about the Volvos is the aftermarket offers both chevy and ford small block conversions.

Well, welcome to the crowd! Even though you get the odd sore muscle or 20 every now and then, it still feels like 25 or 30 years old. Gonna have to meet you next year. You're good people, Rev.:) :pub:
