Cougar people talking about wagons

These Cougar guys have been going on about wagons for a week and 5 pages.

 

But this comment really hurts:

"It's a WOODIE??? Look at it this way....if it's a woodie, it's still in the BOX!!!"

And then the guys tearing down two-tone wagons...

Thanks for letting me peep into the minds of the cougars. Warped... I like it!

 

If more folks start longing for wagons, we could be in line for a "Stationwagon Idol" award. I'll bet you'll think it over a lot more about selling your Cougar Wagon off, now.

I admit it's hard getting a 4' X 8' sheet of anything in the back. I'm gonna build a small frame to angle them over the wheel housings and point just over the back of my head up front, but I have gotten 4 sheets in there using those plastic pop crates. It was something else getting 12' siding in there, though. Passenger window down and angled into the rear driver-side corner. The best one was bringing home two queen-sized box-spring and mattresses on the roof, and then our king-size bed. The mattress was too wide, but I found quiet streets from the store. I had a spider's web of ropes holding it down, and swore I'd use the trailer if I had to do it again!:banghead3:

The joke is on them. Don't they remember that there was a Cougar wagon twice in past?

I'd never seen or noticed an LTD II Wagon, until my tailgate nearly died. It made me wonder if they were the competing brand to the Cougar Wagon. You always had the Fairmont/Zephyr pair. Would they have been the other pair? Cougar/LTD II wagons?

 

Exactly. Fairmont & Zephyr , then the smaller Cougar & Granada and finally the smaller LTD & Marquis wagons. All used the same basic wagon body.

Most people totally forget about the Mid seventies LTD II & Cougar Villager wagons.

 

Well, well, my parts sources just grew by 200 percent! Ho! Ho! Ho! It's gonna be a great Christmas, this year.

I told my wife this morning that the Wagonmaster commented about a quality snow brush and then Rev piped in with a ghetto garage.

My dear, loving, often frugal wife (tight wad is too harsh), agreed that we need a two-bay garage. She doesn't know that I want to put a late-50's Imperial wagon in there to restore, shhh. But hey, all this season's battle to get the car done, has paid off!

I have to build it of course, but I've got major ideas to include! I think I figured a way to get free heat into the house, by building a concrete 'bunker' starting 2 yards down (55F ground temperature - below frost line of 3 feet) and two yards deep X 20 feet wide (garage width?). Then fill it with 6" to 9" boulders and run solar-heated air from my south-facing roof to heat up the rocks for up to one week's storage (a really cloudy week), and use an IN fan and an OUT fan (220 VAC - 18" diameter) and recirculate the inside air, through a filtration system. Summertime, I've got free AC!

And a small opening to heat the garage. 55F (+14C) is a major improvement to -19C (-2F) like last night!

In Spanish the 'B' and 'V' sound the same. I mean you could be the North Carolina version of... "The Rev"

What was the name of that Italian or French car that had the front door? It had a hatchback door too.

I can't recall when the article came out in an olde HotRod magazine (late 60's) that some guy had shoved a jet engine in this pregnant rollerskate. Just to show it could be done.

I want to say Isuzu, but it could have been a Fiat. The weirdest thing I'd ever seen. I think they were testing a '64 Avanti on the Bonneville flats in that same issue.

It had to be the shortest 'wagon' made, anyway.

 

I'm a long time Cougar owner but I don't get on mercurycougar.net too often, thanks for posting this thread, I went back and posted a shot of my 69 Colony Park there.
