On a classic car sight I follow someone posted a picture from a mall c 1965. There were several’62-65 cars in view and one 1959 Cadillac in a parking space. I commented then, and reiterated again how absolutely prehistoric that big finned Caddy looked by 1965. Same thing here, especially a ‘59 Chevy. I bet your reaction would be different if you had a ‘66 Plymouth snout to snout with a ‘61 Chevy.

It would. The all-new for '61 full-sized Chevy was years ahead in styling compared to the 1960 model - huge jump forward. And out of the 4 years this generation was made ('61-'64), I think the '61 had the best styling.

First Cars and Coffee of the year was this past weekend.
It doesn’t officially start until the 5 of April, but the weather was so nice they put out a message on facebook and had an impromptu, “unofficial” get together.

We pulled the Fury out of the garage a few days prior so Nathaniel could drive it to school while his Bronco was down. We hadn’t even washed it when we decided to go down to the meet.

I drove the Fury to work last week so I could drop it off at a local shop. There are some things that Nathaniel is interested in having done, and since he was in school, I decided to take it down.

I always enjoy an opportunity to take a photo of the Fury next to a Magnum.

Fury looks good and seeing the Magnum does make me miss my old one a bit.[IMG]

I love the white wheels. Not sure I’ve ever seen that done before. Very nice

Police rims painted body colour ala' 60's Ford & Chrysler style, I wanted a retro muscle look that complimented the car without fighting for attention.

Nathaniel and I are finally replacing the panel on the glovebox in the Fury. It needs replacing because, as a kid in the late 80's, I dented the heck out of it by kicking it because it wouldn’t close. The latch was broken, (which I didn’t know) but I figured I just wasn’t closing it hard enough, so it required extra effort…

A few years ago I was able to get aquatinted with a guy who had a bunch of 62-65 B-body stuff here in the state and purchase some things I needed. I got the 4 barrel intake and rear compartment pieces from him. I also got this glovebox door.

Nathaniel always enjoys it when I take photos of him doing something

Turned out well. It’s not perfect, but nothing on this car is. I still need to get a new lock/latch

Something else happened while we were doing the swap. Nathaniel was cleaning out the glovebox and made a discovery.

    IMG_0391.jpeg

Straight away I could see it had my Grandpa’s name on it, but I couldn’t read the top part until I inspected it closely.

"This car made especially for Charles Orthmann"

I couldn’t believe it. It’s been in there all of these years and I have never seen it before.

My dad had a 1966 Imperial Crown Coupe. It had a badge inside glove box "Made for???" My dad was in northern Indiana, and the research showed the car was made for pharmacist in Niles Mi, just north of South bend. Very cool to have that.

That's cool to find, it really gives the Fury that extra bit of family history.

Both of my Mercedes still have the metal plates with the original owners names plus other information.
