    Aloha!

I have a 1985 Ford LTD with a 302 in it. I'm curious as to what emissions junk I can just remove and plug up. There is a bunch going on and it doesn't make working on this thing any easier.

    Any help is appreaciated!

    Mahalo!

Minor clarification. You have an LTD Crown Victoria wagon or LTD Country Squire. A 1985 LTD is a completely different car (thanks Ford). This will help when looking for parts specific to your car. As for your question, unless you are going for a full performance build, I would leave it as is and/or fix what you have. That whole system needs to work together to work properly. Your other option is to just put a 2 barrel carb on there, but there are complications with doing that. You won't pick up any performance by disabling any of the current systems. You might be best off just getting a small spool of vacuum hose and starting by just replacing all of it

I guess that's true. I do plan on doing a fair amount of performance mods so I wanted to clean up the bay a bit. Just try and get unneeded vacuum lines out of the way.

You can probably get rid of most/all of it when you upgrade, but I'd leave it in place until then. These engines need a fair amount of help in stock form. They have abysmal compression (8.3:1), wheezy heads, and choked down intakes. I think your block might have provisions for a roller cam, but maybe a flat tappet cam in it. What to do with that engine depends on what your goals for the car are.

BTW, this all assumes that you don't have any kind of emissions testing where you are.
