    Hi Guys,
My dream car is back on Ebay...for $1500., more than I offered for it, and more than he paid for it!
It is the only one that I ever regret loosing. The car is above reproch and I am sure of the condition. The new owner has done nothing but transport it home and up the price. I spoke to him today and we are about $500. out, of making the deal...I have the money but it burns my A$$ that he is trying to make a profit on something that he was supposed to have wanted for himself, only 45 days ago. I see no reason to pay that much more for the car than it was worth before transportation costs.
I believe I can live with the loosing the car for a 2nd. time, but I would rather have it, than not. There is NOTHING that needs done to the car, and it would compliment my sons' 79 H/O, to no end.
I can get a transport for about $900. to here, which is about what it would cost to fly up and drive back, for 2 people. But, that would be putting about 1500 mi. on the car and taking a chance on it breaking. The tires are about 10 years old, but in super shape(not sure about that???)
Talk some sense into me!!! Give me some good arguements!!! Yes, I can live without the car, but to get my 83 wagon there would cost about 10k.
And this one is done in such a way as I wouldn't do the 83. There is also much history also with the car, as well as photo documentation.
So, if you would, take a look and talk to me!!! Here is the link: Oldsmobile : Cutlass . It's the 1980 wagon that looks (painted) like a H/O of the preceeding year. If I get it I will be putting in about 2K to bring it a little more UTD and user friendly (gas mileage wise, 200R4 tranny and tires).
    Thanks, ( and don't think I've lost my mind...YET)
    Bruce

I say go for it. I read the posting the previous time the car was up, and it sounds like it was done right - first class all the way. It's a one-of-a-kind car, and like you said, you can't duplicate it for that price.

If you're only $500 from the car of your dreams, what are you waiting for?

You're a MUCH stronger man than I !!!! I'm just weak I suppose! The Brookwood is my third build, and I still have all the previous builds !! My '34 and my '41.

So a couple months ago, I SOMEHOW convenced myself that....'YUP, I NEED to build a '50's wagon" !!!

I have yet (even after all these years) to make the Turkey trot, the turkey Run or Cruisin the Coast !!! ......pretty lame huh ??!

    BUY IT !!

    Hey Cruise...

Not especially bravery...It's only about 2.5 hours from my place and my father-in-law has been going forever. He is 10 years older than I and has loved cars since he took his first joyride in the 50s'. He takes one of my sons over there for the last 5 years, in this Chebby powered '33 F. O. R. D.(sorry I can't bring myself to put those letters together), with the Chebby tranny and 12bolt (of course).
Anyway, when I go I have to rent one of those power chairs(not Chebby powered-but they have Delco batteries :=))..). That way I can stay out for 4 to 6 hours, without killing myself. And make it around to most of the places we have an interest in...and sometimes we hook up 'Little Red' to the chair and were off!!!
I'm also wanting to go to the Cruise In (Old Town)over towards Daytona, for a Fri. nite. Our (mine baby A's '79H/O) cars arn't old enough to do the Sat. nite run., but it's all good!!!
So, get you Hillbilly butt out of West (by golly) Va. and come visit. I can say that cuz I was born in Clarksburg(lived in Lumberport) and my mom just moved out of Moundsville... in July.(Hey if you feel left out, palm trees don't branch either!!! Who knew??? You know that one...)
    Later,
    Bruce
Ps. Your cars look allot better than most of them here!!!

It does look pretty nice. $8950 does sound like a lot of money for a 150,000 mile "driver" as he calls it. I wonder why he says it is not show quality?

I don't doubt it cost all that and more to duplicate. What it comes down to is how much you want it. If you would have spent that much building your own, then he is one already done up for you.

Thats a freeken nice wagon! Seems a bit pricy IMO, well way to pricy but that thing looks great. If your happy with it, Go For It!!

Um...If it's only a couple hours away why would you pay to ship it rather than spend the day getting it?

It looks good, but I am with Tedy, way overpriced for me. But something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. To me its a $2500 car tops, that is all I would give for it, no matter how much work went into it. Its not rare or a collector piece, its just a dressed up Cutlass Wagon that anyone could build. Must not have anything special under the hood, or they would have shown it off. If that is what you want Bruce, do it up, but for that kind of money, you could build your Bu alot better and nicer if you do the work yourself and know what to spend the money on.

If it was me, I would wait and see if it sells for the asking price. If not, I would go back and offer $500 above what he paid for it. If you lose it, well, there is going to be another one.

I hunted for 6 months till I found my car and a lot of offers did pass me by. Still, I have no regrets in waiting (well, maybe few cars that I could buy and resell for profit).

I just checked the asking price. Wow, $9k for a 80s wagon? Well, I have seen "more" classic cars for this or little more that and also as nice.

    Hi Guy,
Yep, I let this one slip by last time (in Sept.) over $500. And, I know what he paid for it. I'm going to let attrition do it's thing and wear HIM down. I'll be paying for t'port and that has to figure in to cost.
Thing is, the car IS truely unique, and went thru extensive resto about 9 years ago. Since then, the old owner has kept the car up and replaced with newer parts as they became available. I don't know of anything but the header emblem that needs to be replaced, to complete it to my satisfaction. And I have spare emblems form my sons '79H/O.
A set of 15" wheels and tires and call it good, still not a big deal. I'm also pretty much looking for a daily driver out of it, which shouldn't be an issue. Maybe a 200R4 to help with the gas mileage...I can pick those up for about six bills and they bolt right in. I'll be near 10k into it, but that still isn't much considering everything that has been done, but I'm good with that number.
    Thanks for the input!!!
    Bruce

    Hey Teddy...

I have a spare set if you need some. 3 really good ones and one that isn't as nice. No scrapes or anything like that, just the paint and condition of the Al. The center caps are really good also. Thing is, they only made those for the '79 HOs, so they are getting more and more rare. They also only came in 14" flavor, which is a bit of a mpg killer. Oh well, the things we do to our selves, to make 'em pretty !!! Almost like a woman... Ouch...
Like they say, "You can dress 'em up and put lipstick on 'em, but their still a PIG (albeit a purtty one!!!)."
    Later...
    Bruce
