Has this group had any problems on scams for buying parts?

    Wondering about scammers on this website. Can anyone give any input? Just wondering.

    Any scamming appears to be attempted through private messages instead of blatantly open on a post on the forums. I am investigating an instance of that sort now, where someone was looking for a part and a person sent them a DM to "contact so and so at this email address", which led to "questionable" behavior.

    Now back to you - are you referring to an particular instance?

    From: A Station Wagon Forum member: Markdan685
    Not sure about anything here. I e-mailed this George and can't get year straight what I'm looking for, avoiding to send pictures then sends wrong year of pictures what I'm looking for, avoiding to specify a price etc. Would you send this guy any $$$$$$$$????

    NO. I had a similar experience via DM. We went back and forth and he finally mentioned he lived in Metarie. I said my son lives there and would be over to pay him and pick it up. Never heard from him again.

    I have gotten 2 of the ‘email so and so at…’. The first I fell for. But I am wiser now.
