Really cute. I’d give you $10k and you keep the surf board. No water in New Mexico.

    SOMEBODY can probably answer this.....
Ford never put a 5-speed manual in the Pinto, only 4-speeds. Would a 5-speed from a later 4-cylinder Ranger P/U bolt up?

Never knew Ford had that Sea foam green color but it certainly looks good on that little wagon. $12,500 seems high to me but maybe it is reasonable if you are paying $700,000 for a 1,250 sqft ranch in SOCAL.

Maybe, but a T5 from a Mustang or TurboCoupe would probably be a better option. Usually truck transmission shifters come up too far forward for use in a car. I've never seen a five speed trans from a Ranger. I'm guessing they used a variant of the M5R trans used in the F-150's.

I was thinking 'Ranger' because I thought the early ones had a similar 2.3 liter 4-cylinder for RWD that the Pintos had. The 5-speed manual MIGHT have been a Mazda-built unit, but I'm not sure on that. When the Ranger came out in '82, a 4-speed manual was standard, but a 5-speed was optional.

Nice little wagon but I agree $12,500 is a bit steep

    Still $12,500 - don't see that happening.

Dang ! I was gonna go for this little cruiser. But, I read in the Fine print it was re-painted. I just can't
justify re-painting a car with Only 17,000 miles. Why...?????

My guess is the original paint oxidized .... I spent my life as a professional auto painter ... although some Ford paint was decent , their reds and oranges were not .... any exposure to sun and they faded fast .... wash them with a white cloth and the cloth turned red .... guys who kept them waxed and shiny found the factory primer showing through after a couple of years .

The red pigments turn to dust (oxidize) and get shrugged off .... those issues were solved once clearcoats with sunscreen came along .... also reds are the most expensive paint to buy so factories did it cheap as possible.

Anyway .... like you , I am a purist when it comes to cars in (supposed) original condition .... I want to see original paint , even if it is not in perfect condition.

Another thing I dont like is that as long as some exterior paint is original , professional appraisers will tell you the car can be deemed as being "original paint" .... I dont agree .... top could have had hail damage and been repainted .... or lower sides redone because of surface rust .... new paint can cover a multitude of sins.
