A very well preserved car considering its 175,000 miles! Rarely seen 2 tone delete Formula, 305, 5-speed manual. I actually like it. Manual Trans, no T-Tops. If I remember correctly the optional 350 was only available with the 4-speed automatic Trans, so this is about how I would have ordered one. Dealer is asking $8250.00. I don't know if that is a good or bad deal? It sure looks good, the interior is very well preserved. That off white fabric usually looked terrible in just a couple of years normal use. No under hood shots though. https://stlouis.craigslist.org/ctd/d/saint-louis-1988-firebird-formula-speed/7343992436.html
I'm pretty sure you are correct about the 5 speed only being available with the 305. The T5 probably wasn't strong enough to reliably hold up behind even a stock 350. Is that off white or grey interior? I'm not an F-Body guy, but if it is as clean as it looks that doesn't seem like too bad of a deal.
I'm not an F-Bomb guy either, but I've worked on enough of them that almost all were worn out and smelly long before they ought to have. The only exception was an '82 Camaro Berlinetta owned by a little old lady. This is the one I replaced the engine due to coolant in the oil, and it turned out to be a hole drilled straight through the water jacket of the intake, presumably for a broken bolt. IIRC, it had 127K, but it looked like it had only 27K inside, well-optioned, and everything worked. The point is, this interior also looks like it was very well-maintained by a little old lady.
I agree, it probably is considered light grey, not off white. But either way that color just did not seem to last. All my friends cars that had that color in F-Body's, or Sunbird's, Cavaliers, Grand Am's or Fiero's. All seem to wear 10X faster than they should have. But we were young and did not take care of things as well as I do now. The ad was deleted by the author so I believe the car sold. Doesn't surprise me, as other than a missing wheel center cap. I really could not nit pick it very hard.Glad it was not close to me!
