Any one out there experience leaks thru the roof racks? I've have a few, what looks like water circles thru the headliner towards the back of the new wagon. Not really ready to go there yet, but if there is damage occuring...I'll have to fix it, now. Thanks, Bruce
Have you thought about removing the roof rack and filling in the holes?....I know it is more expensive but would permanently solve the problem....on the other hand if you want to keep the roof rack I would just apply sealer around the holes....any water that gets inside is going to ruin your headliner and you will start getting surface rust on the inside roof
Yep.. I don't like the rack but I DO like the runners. But, that's just me. once the headliner is out I'll see better. Saw an interior guy today and he though it may have come in from the half missing window seals, and to not jump anywhere just yet!! Thanks Falcon!!! Bruce
I have had my share of roof leaks since moving to this land of endless rain. I applied a generous amount of clear RTV silicone to the holes and screws before reassembling the rack and roof runners. So far it seems to be staying dry, but I still have plenty of surface rust on the inside of the roof to deal with.
Where in Fl.? You ask... Palm Harbor, just north of Dunedin and Clearwater. I used to go to over that way to golf. Once I get this wagon thing going, I want to go to the OLD TOWNE CRUISE-in. I'll give you a call... Bruce
Bruce, sounds good man! I am about 20 minutes from Old town....I am hoping to have my '65 falcon wagon done by spring of next year
Falcon... Sounds like a lock and a date. My son, Eric is trying to get his H/O ready for one of the Friday nite cruises, and I'll be working on the '83 between now and then. A guy in Mich. has a car I'm kind of interested in for parts, Vortec 350, 700R4, and a rear end and airshocks, to name a few. Between Eric and me we need some of everything for G-Bodies so it would work out well. The H/O is about done(for now) he just has to finish up the t-tops and get the filler panels painted and installed. He has a little overheating problem that I think is associated with the 3.73 rear end, causing the engine to work harder. We will swap out rears and I'll take the 3.73 for the wagon and he will get whichever is better, as long as it is limited slip. Things like that. I have some of the chrome trim to replace on my wagon and the weather strip needs done also. So, it's ambishious but it can be done for Nov./Dec. I hope. Later, Bruce
Bruce sounds like both you and your son will have some nice rides! Hey keep us informed of the progress and hope to see in the near future
Gets chilly in Florida in November/ December does it? Or are you coming up here for a winter skiing trip?
Comming NORTH??? Hi Norm... Going north with MY knees...I don't think so, at least that far north. We may go the the family cabin in Blue Ridge for a 'little' snow. But up there you get a 'little snow' by Nov.. Used to go to my moms in W.Va., she would only ever get 1-2" (maybe) a season. She was by the O-HI river and down in a holler (as we say). Around Wheeling, anyway, went there one March and they got 4" and my knees were screaming!!! So no, and I don't do that ski thing, either. Got talked into a snow shovel and damn near cleaned me off, if you get my drift!!! So, NO, there also!!! I do however love the north, and miss the season thing. Nothing like a roaring fire and the windows cracked a little!!! A hot cup of coffee with a hint of Amaretto wafting off the top. Darn, now you have me missing it already!!! The power of words and your mind... Enjoy yourself Norm... Later, Bruce Ps. But we can drive around in Jan. with the t-tops off, and not come back with a car full of snow, or frostbite...TRADEOFF!!!
Romancing the snow in a couple inches sure sounds appealing. Your knees wouldn't take our cold weather. My wife just bought some new winter boots, guaranteed good for -73 F!. We get down to -55F with windchill. Snow takes the bite off, but sometimes it comes in 30 inch dumps.
Norm... I'm understanding that!!! I used to work as a paramedic in south Fl. down by Lake Okcechobee(I think that's right) and the wind would come whippin down 41, at about 30mph. And we couldn't wear enough stuff to keep the chill out. I was talking to a friend in Penn. and he offered to get me a certified foul weather coat, water repellant, wind resistant and good for -25degrees. SOLD... best darned coat I ever bought, still have it, 30 years later, hood built in, 2 drawstrings, and velcro closures around the neck and sleeves, with a flannel liner, that don't zip out. Them wussie boys of mine fight over it when it hits 50 here, or when we do go up north. All I ever wear is a leather bomber and a pair of shorts or sweatpants. With the bad knee I have this thing about anything touching a scar along side of my knee. It's like nails on a chalkboard right down to your soul, just nasty and sometimes painful!!! Thanks for the offer...How far north are YOU??? Bruce
Here's the cold weather factory. They make cold-weather clothing for our Arctic workers and military, as well as NATO forces: http://www.mwgapparel.com/ These guys have some good lines too: http://www2.marks.com/ And the best consumers lines, especially for women (fashion and so on) is here: http://www.hbc.com/hbc/default.asp My wife bought a down-filled full-length (to ankles) from them in 1999. She paid 1/2 price in August, 1999, at $250. You couldn't pry that out of her hands for 5 times as much, and she works at Sears! Still gets compliments, but she can stroll in a -50C wind and keep warm!
