I have been a car nut for 54 years. Many other things in life have slipped away, however, I will probably die working on a car. I am partial to bmw's & town cars, but lately have opened up to mercedes & cadillacs. Am working on a 1999 town car/bentley replica & a hot rod 1986 bmw 528e. Have a 2000 town car that will either be a station wagon or maybe convert a town car hearse to a station wagon/limo for halloween. Have an over active mind.
1986 bmw 528e So far I just started removing emblems & stripes & added 16" 5 spokes. Next I dislike mufflers, so only a converter will remain with daul pipes coming out in center rear. Considering lowering, some ground effects, 35% tinted glass, either gray or gold leather seats from a 750 or 735. Maybe a turbo depending on the engine. Wish I could find a 528 wagon, but then did not build them in 1986. Like 6 door wagons.
I'm liking it. A hot rod Lincoln wagon. Throw some wood on it and you find some script for "Continental Squire" or how about "Lincoln Log"!!
Lincolns? i run a titling service for mechanics/storage lien & abondoned vehicle & often end up with the vehicles. Have a 2000, 1999 & 1995 town car all with some needs. The 2000 may be a wagon if i can find a donor, the 1999 may be something like a bentley with custom lights, grille, and interior, and the 1995 will either be a wagon or a pickup truck with a rolls royce replica kit. All my lincolns run flowmaster exhaust, 18" or 20" wheels, 35% tinted glass, and whatever paint i feel at the time. I do a lot of work for maaco & they can do anything in paint at a bargin. The 2000 may end up with a stretched front & dual side mounts like a zimmer if i can find out how to stretch the frame. Zimmer will not tell.
Hi HUNT!!! I noticed you didn't/don't like mufflers??? Check out the STS Turbos... They have a rear mounted turbo that doesn't require a muffler!!! How cool is that. :banana:And, they are the guys that do the twin turbo stuff, also. Don't know if that is your cup of octane or not, but, it seems cool!!! And it PUMPS up the ponies as well!!! Don't need a intercooler either!!! And WELCOME to SWF !!! Bruce
Turbos? Living on Social Security makes it difficult to go wild & several shops want close to $2,500 for a single turbo. I have a BMW 524td to use for an example to build my own unit. My 528e would run good with a single turbo. I can buy whole engines for around $150 with turbos. All I would have to do is rigg up a oil line and popoff valve.
Hey Hunt... Why not think about why they use the rear turbos??? And do one of those yourself. They use the ehxust to feed the little guy and run a line back. Stops allot of the heating problems and they can run killer sized whirly birds at that. The relief is on the exhust under the car, less heat and noise. I know you can, 'DOOIT'!!! I used to race against John Greenwood, in IMSA and SCCA. He had more money in his rearend than I did in my whole '64 coupe. I finished all but 1 race (broke oil pick-up) and that little LT1 was killer and he was running some LS6(427 all aluminum) or something. I never remember him passing me anywhere that he wasn't getting towed in!!! And I did it with almost ALL used parts. Less than $5k in the whole car!!! Now that was FUN!!! I understand that doesn't exist much anymore but the principles are the same. A die grinder and time makes things work and fit!!! Good Luck to ya... And, I UNDERSTAND about the SS thing (since 1992, SSD). Bruce
Hot rod lincoln? If my plans work out on the 1995 Town Car it will be stretched 24" between the front suspension & cowl making it almost as long as a Zimmer. The engine & radiator will be in the stock location leaving much empty room up front. Almost could run double turbos with room to spare. Her is photo of what I am trying to do, but not to a Mark instead a Town Car. Back will not be short, but will be a station wagon. I talked to the shop that builds Zimmers and told them how I wanted to stretch my frame & found out that was what they did on their first car. Found that I can buy bad motors a a local salvage yard for $100 & just remove the turbo, pipes, & cooler & leave the rest.
Awwww welcome to the site. i use o work for the local bmw dealership in my area and i lovedd the 3 series wagon. i wish they had made the 335 wagon instead of the 328 but the 5 series wagon was very very nice as well
