New full size wagon

Does anyone know if Ford group or GM will build full size wagon like Chevrolet Caprice, Buick Roadmaster or Ford Country Squire, for example?

 

Nope but you ought to check out the Taurus X. It's pretty good size.

I guess too many people have gotten use to the Mini Vans and SUV

 

Holdens Sportwagon is pretty close, be really, they aren't much longer than the sedan. Still on my list though

The Ford Flex is going into production! (as a 2009 model)

It was shown at last years International Auto Show in NewYork City.

It is BIG! And it is a wagon! YAAAA!







I saw it at the NY autoshow. It is much longer in person than these pictures show. It is as long as an Expedition, yet far shorter. So in real life it doesn't look as much like an SUV. The pictures don't do it justice. I was shocked (and very Happy) to see such a large wagon-like vehicle on display. It was actually first shown the year before called the "Fairlane" and had suicide rear doors. Public reaction must have been good as they tweeked it alittle for the next show and announced it was going into production. Too bad the name and those doors got dropped.

 

Ford flex and ford Taurus X are crossover...they are 10 inches higher than a normal wagon...

 

You'll just have to rebuild a classic! If you don't have rust issues it'll cost 1/2 the cost of a new one.

92 Roadmasters seem to be plentiful.

 

Crossover or not, it is still shorter than a traditional SUV.

And even if it was the same height as a passenger car, none of the car companies want to call them wagons anymore. Too many people still cringe at the thought of telling their friends and co-workers they bought a wagon. While it invokes nostalgia to us, too many see it as vehhicle only for soccer moms.

 

Quick, go buy a Magnum. It's on the chopping block due to low sales. Prices ought to be good. I hear the 3.5 six is great. Not quite full size by 70's standards but it's the biggest at the moment.

Even tho Chrysler doesn't admit it's a wagon. I think it's a great car. Of course if you have the bucks you can opt for the Hemi. But that puts you in the $30+ catagory.

 

Sure has tell-tale signs of a Land-Rover.

Fugly, I like that. That would sneak through the license name censors too. And that new Flex 'wagon' would be the perfect candidate.

 

Nothing a set of lowering springs couldn't fix... Well, maybe not 10 inches of fixing, but I'd take one. I think its sweet.

I've been driving past Ford Freestyle's for months thinking,'That ain't nothin but a lifted station wagon.

Maybe a swap of suspension components with the car platform its based on could get it down to the proper height...

That should be the Magnum replacement.
