Looks pretty good, a friend of mine in HS had a Red & White 65 version of this, the drains for the sliding roof panel were clogged, and every time we opened it the back seat & cargo area would get wet from the trapped water in the channels. I always thought they were cool, but I don't really see a purpose for the option, other than hauling home a refrigerator upright?

Not even needed for that, as long as you're not going far. A few months ago, we needed a new water heater. Got a terrific deal on a 50-gallon unit at my local big-box store, about 4 miles from home. They wanted $80 to deliver it, and did recommend that it should not be transported laying down. I backed up the Way-Back Machine to their loading area, and strapped it down on top of the laid-flat tail gate. Got it all the way home, no problem. Of course THEN I had to get it up onto its alcove platform, 17 inches above the garage floor. But that's another story......

You could transport them laying down, if the wagon was a Citroen DS.
Note that refrigerators don't like getting hauled laying down, either. You still could. But, then you'd have to wait at least 24 hours, before plugging it in. That's really nothing you'd like to go through, if the food in your old one is ready to thaw out

I can say that I DO know what the sliding roof was good for, because I held the lead line when we picked up the pony we bought! :) My father was a Studabaker guy, but the only one I have left is a 1965 2dr lark, with 65k. It still has the 1971 inspection sticker, from when it was driven into the barn! I always wanted a Wagonaire, but so far, haven't found one I can afford...
