As my first thread, I wanted to share some images I found trough the months, of Torino wagon 72'.
I own a Gran Torino 72' fastback but now looking for a wagon to get the perfect pair. I give myself up to next spring to score something decent. I'm glad I found this forum which is amazing.
    Wagon's all the way!!!
    Enjoy..

Cool! Thanks for posting! I have always been partial to the woodgrain models... especially the 1972 models.

Its a shame about that red one... looks like its been setting awhile and ruining. :(

A Ford that looks really smooth, now I'm confused. It's shattering ideals I hold close to my heart.....what a wagon! The light blue wagon with the "fastback" is amazing. Clint Eastwood should have had one of these in his Gran Torino movie.

Yeah I know. I would pick it up in a heart beat if I could. The color combo is amazing and the original paint still looks decent.

Tanks for the tip. Even though I'm looking for a deal in Canada, it gives me a good idea on today's prices. :)

I agree with 72 Kingswood. I've always thought that body style looked so much better with the wood. My favorite was the green totally stock one, though the white one looked exceptional.

I always did love those years of the Torino and the wagon. Just a good looking car.

Cool, but I like the ones with hideaway headlights.

The light blue one is beautiful. Normally, I like the wood, but that blue one is stunning. I had forgotten about how much I like Torino wagons.

We really need to get some stylists hired in the various automakers. These torinos put everything to shame these days.

I especially like the green one with the di-noc, in front of the period correct house in similar color!

The main reason why I love this wagon is because of the "hips". The rear fender seems to have a face lift like "hips" and the rear windows are a little higher than the middle and front ones. You will notice the "hips" factor quite easily on my 72' fastback in the first pic. That year, which is a one year body-style because of the front end, Ford managed to bring those "hips" on the wagon model (as seen on the other pictures bellow). For me this is pure styling.
Do not forget that the Torino that year was apparently "shaped by the wind" ;)

I kinda like these without the wood. They are a very well-styled wagon. In fact, I think they look better than the '68 - '72 GM intermediates that go for much more money. That black one with the silver accent is particularly nice.

The comment that the '72 is a 'one year only' body is incorrect. The front bolt-on sheet metal is 'one year only'. The rest of the wagon body basically stayed the same through '78 I believe....

Ford had to redesign the front end and dump the 'bass mouth' grill due to new bumper standards becoming effective for the '73 model year. They got even tougher for the '74 model year.

My guess is that the 'bass mouth' design was already locked in and tooling ordered when the final bumper regulations were passed. Otherwise, you wouldn't have seen a 'bass mouth' at all - the '72 would have been more closely related to the '73.......

A local junkyard has one in it but it has been in there since the early 80s and it still has bias ply tires on it.
