I would say that scarcity is the reason for getting radicalized towards the hate and deathsquad camp, as soon as someone uses items as mere objects for their artwork, when these items are sought for by those restoring Vistas. That would be like someone using the back window of a '64 to '66 Barracuda and a wrap-around Toronado rear window for erecting a greenhouse. I'm surprised that nothing bad has ever happened yet, to these types. What if they die peacefull deaths? Where's the justice to all that and those participating in Demolition Derbies? Why is it always the other guy who gets cancer or abducted by wicked Space Aliens?

I don't hate this build (hate is a terrible word) ! Anyone can build anything they want , but at the same time I can dislike anything also! I'm able to agree to disagree..... Longroofs Rule!

This is true. Everyone has a right to build what they wan't. But, they should keep in the back of their minds that sooner or later they must pay the piper

Or don’t be disappointed when the piper doesn’t pay you the price you think you’re intiled to.

Not to my taste, but what do I know. Love GM squarebacks and don't understand the appeal of all things Chevelle.

I think this was the ‘64 2 door Chevelle with the Vista roof they were talking about 5F533F8B-8EC1-491B-8BE9-3B0A5F2D77AA.png

Again. This is not to my taste, but there you have it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

There is also this one - a '64 Buick Skylark 2-door hardtop with the wagon back end and 'sky roof' added on.

    Quite nice execution.....

Unlike the Chevelle, the Buick conversion at least looks like it might have been a prototype

Agreed. I actually like the Buick. You’re right, it looks like a prototype. Plus when it’s on the right model of the right maker it seems more logical.

I actually think the T-bird looks better with the vista roof than the two door Buick. Maybe it is the added on roof rack. It just looks like a bunch of stuff stacked up on the back of the Buick.

I see what you’re saying. Did most Vista Cruisers come with luggage racks? Seems like with an elevated roof that would add some added depth to it. I think I would have ordered one without, were u buying it new in ‘64.

Part of what's throwing everybody off on the Vista Roof, is the wheelbase. The original '64 Buick Sport Wagon, with the Vista roof had a wheelbase of 120". The Skylark hardtop you're looking at only has a 115" wheelbase.

That too. The Buick reminds of the picture of the purple Challenger with the wagon back grafted on to it. The proportions just don't look right on it.
