Mercman, I will agree with you on just about anything else, but I just can not stand green cars, make doesn't matter. May have something to do with being a Military Brat. I think I had my fill of Green before middle school.
Basically, the same car as in the 'Gran Torino' movie - just one year newer, and with slightly different options. Same color even (I think)
Hey I totally get it. Not sure I’d have a green car today. I used to feel that way about white cars, but living in the southwest I got 3 daily driver cars that are white and just bought a white ‘77 LTD. So there you go.
This is an Atlanta(Hapeville) produced car. I remember seeing these on the rail car carriers back in the day. Whole car carriers full of 2 dr coupes with the laser stripes. The Ford plant was right at the edge of Hartsfield airport and the site is now Porsche's North American headquarters.
When we lived in St. Louis we would pass the big Mercury plant a few times during the week. There was nothing more fun to see those rail cars loaded with new shiny big Mercs. Our neighbor was a quality control manager at that plant and brought home a new car off the line every night. OMG. Poor Mr. Randall. I’m sure I drove that poor guy crazy, and on to an early grave hanging out in his drive for hours waking around those cars.
