I have a 96 buick century wagon and it appears the torque strut mount bracket has been discontinued, in 97 they changed them to the smaller style with 2 mounts, mine has the single one, its the part where the fork connects to the bracket, the fork is fine and also easy to get ahold of, the bracket is impossible. I have repaired mine by filling the innards of the square around the shaft the fork connects to with silicone, but I want one that has the proper amount of tension. cant find it anywhere, dealers, ebay, junk yards, parts chain stores,
It looks like this is for the four cylinder engine is that correct? Go on to car-part.com and search for a similar year A-Body and a part that would be specific to a four cylinder engined car and try contacting those junkyards to see if they can help you out. I see several junkyards in my area that have four cylinder A-Body car parts listed so they are out there. Do you know if this is specific to the A-Body chassis or did they use it on any other bodies?
nope its the 3100 v6, the particular generation seems to baffle all of the auto parts stores computer, 96 century wagon, 3.1 3100, always giving me the wrong parts...., I also have no idea what custom, limited, and special versions are, could be some of the problem, I would assume the 96 century with the 3100 would basically be the same under the hood and just have different trim and options etc? who knows
Well when I looked it up on several GM parts websites it showed the application as the four cylinder engine. Perhaps they used the same part for the four cylinder and V6 engines. I would think it would be even easier to find a V6 car in the junkyard. What exactly fails on the bracket? I think this is the kind of part where you have to physically go there and pull the part yourself. Trying to explain what this is to some guy at the junkyard over the phone probably isn't going to get you there and they probably don't care to take the time to figure it out for something they'll probably only be able to sell for $10. Probably your best bet is to figure out what applications they used it on and track down one of those cars in a junkyard. It is likely they used the same part on all A-Bodies of similar vintage. The question is what year range works for you.
Rock Auto shows them in stock, it looks like they were uses on both 4 & 6 cylinder applications I think this is a link to the page that shows them. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog....1l+v6,1016165,engine,torque+strut+mount,5556 If it doesn't work look up PIONEER 632716 or DEA/MARMON RIDE CONTROL A2866 or SKP SKM2866 just the insert is listed as WESTAR EM2716 without a picture of your old part it is impossible to tell if they are the correct part, sorry. I hope it helps
If that isn't it I looked at the 1997 version and they show a different mount with one bolt and a square rubber https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog....1l+v6,1377020,engine,torque+strut+mount,5556
