Hello all, my name is Ken, I'm from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. I kind of found this forum by accident a few days ago and have been lurking on here before I decided to join. I own a 1967 Chev Bel Air wagon. I've had it going on 3 years the end of April. When I got it, it was a running, driving stopping car, 283 with a three on the tree. The 283 was a bit tired and I found a '69 350 and put it in and a Saginaw 4 speed. Rebuilt the brakes, suspension, fuel system etc., so mechanically it's sound, and drives great, a fun car. Next winter hopefully start on the body. Hope the pics work. Ken.
I'm going to try and post some pictures of the wagon the day I bought it. We'll see if this works. Ken.
Ha,ha, it worked. I'll post some more bigger pics. These last pics were from a year ago next month. I just put a freshened set of heads on and getting it cleaned up to put in the cool car corral at our annual car show last Easter.
As you can see, I'm trying to go for the late '60's early '70's drag look. I'm kind of reliving what I saw in my brother's hot rod magazines when I was a kid. Trying to be 20 years old again.
Welcome aboard KenBird. That's a neat looking old Chevy you have there. A 350 with a 4 speed must make it fun to drive. Looks like you've got some work ahead of you regarding the rust repair. But that's not unexpected for a car from Saskatoon.
Hi, thanks, yes, it is a blast to drive, Yep, got some work ahead of me, and yes, pretty normal, I have a friend that lives just outside if Saskatoon here that has a mostly GM collection/wrecking yard and pretty much everything is about the same condition. I am a bodyman/painter by trade so I'm prepared for it.
Welcome to the forums Ken! That's going to be a one sweet ride with a little body work. I love those 60's GM longroofs! My dad had a 67 or 68 impala wagon when I was growing up it was that greenish color I believe. I now own a 65 Olds vista cruiser. Again welcome to the forums and enjoy your stay.....Longroofs Rule!
Hey Ken. Don’t worry about trying to live to be 20 again. There’s a lot of folks on here that collect the 1/64 series wagon too. I’m trying to re-live being 10 sometimes with the small wagons. Welcome to the forum. No judgement here. We all love the wagons, and old cars in general for the most part. Welcome, and I love your ‘67 wagon.
Welcome aboard, Ken. That's a cool wagon indeed....great find. Will you be able to find patch panels for the quarters, or will you have to fabricate them? Unless of course you're fortunate enough to find NOS quarters for it. It looks great with the period correct American Torque Thrusts.
Thanks Longroof, funny you mentioned patch panels, I just ordered 2 door hardtop front and rear patch sections on Friday. I will make them work, as for the inner wheel tubs, I will fabricate them. That will be next winters project when I get into the clubhouse to work on it. I thought long and hard on what kind of wheels to put on it and I'm thinking I nailed it. As I mentioned above, it's a blast to drive, especially with the 4 speed. To further comment on the quarters, the reason for the 2 door front patches is for the wheel lip shape, and then I'll fab a dog leg from there. Our clubhouse is well equipped for metal fab, fortunately. I will keep everyone posted on the progress when the time comes. Ken.
