I am selling our 1977 Malibu Wagon as my daughter wants a Vista instead.. it's got 75K miles showing. What is a good price that would get it sold? Email musicgirl1993@aol.com for pictures. I posted it in classifieds and meant to put $5000 (which might be too high) and accidently put $6000. Insurance is due so want to sell quick.. help me on a fair price please Thanks! Kim
yep! Show us some pictures and youll get many opinions here.:2_thumbs_up_-_anima:2_thumbs_up_-_anima:2_thumbs_up_-_anima:2_thumbs_up_-_anima:2_thumbs_up_-_anima If its mint condition it may be worth $5000. Also I bet fixin up a 77 malibu is gonna be easier than a vista, mainly because the latter is rarer.
Hopefully this will open up some discussion. I don't think there is any other way to do this but to be blunt. I'm not trying to be mean just trying to help. I'm not an expert on what mid 70's wagon go for but based on the pics you have posted in your classified add, I don't think it's worth anything close to the $5000 asking price. To help with your sale those spinner hubcaps need to come off and go in the trash. It needs a really good detail job and better pics. Unfortunately the interior, mostly the carpet and door panels look faded. That brings down the price along with the rust visible in the rear door frame. Also why would a car with supposedly 78K original miles have an engine that was rebuilt 45k Miles ago? Just questions and concerns a potential buyer would have. http://www.antiquecar.com/index/listings/page20390.htm http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5211
What would you ask? What would you ask to get it sold? I don't want to pay insurance again..lol I'm also moving and we don't even have a carport and have room for just two cars. Right 75K is showing so I'm pretty sure it has turned over. It set for years too. I didn't put the spinners on it a cousin did I have no idea where the original wheels are. What would you ask? I've inherited it so to speak and am spending a fortune on insurance. I was going to fix it up for my daughter but she likes the Vista's so no sense in wasting money Thank you for posting the pictures A friend posted them for me and I didn't have them on this computer Thanks! Kim
Kim, now that I see it, if you're selling on an online Auction like EBay, start at $2,500, and trust the market. It looks solid and decent, and quite restorable.
I got me some new high heels for mine yesterday at the JY, as well as a bigger battery tray and some softer hood bumpers, all for $10! I had these: Switched for these from a baby 1984/85 LTD sedan: To end up like this: It's a 1979 Fairmont Squire. All restored. 8 coats of paint, new woodgrain, new rebuilt engine and trans about 4,000 miles ago, new Mustang dash with all the gauges, good interior. On a good day, I might get $3,000. Kim's wagon has a higher collector value than mine. It cost me a bit less than $1,500 to restore and almost 2 years, and it's our only car, but it ain't for sale at any price. Even my wife loves it.
Ugg they are spinners Stormin Normin yours looks great!!! Thanks for the help. Your woodgrain one looks great! We didn't put spinners on the car a cousin did I think we have the original wheels but not sure. On the classified board here do you think it would sell quick if I put $3500? Also, how to I change the price? I tried to but couldn't.. It says $6K.. thanks! Kim
My wheel discs aren't spinners. They're stock Ford wire discs (1983 LTD sedan). You could delete the post and re-enter it. Modifying the title can only be done by our Wagonmaster, Stefan, but he may not be back until the 21st, next week. He does check his PMs though.
