Hello Everyone I'm new here and I would like to know If there Is any other 49-54 GM wagon owners out there, I own two 1951 chevys myself and their both in some state of restoration. If you have pics. of your ride I would sure like to see them. thanks gemnewt
We were waiting for you. About time. Actually I think you're the first. We've got one fellow with a 46 Buick Woody. and patrick80 with a 1956 Plymouth wagon. But we'd love to see some pics!
50 chevy wagons Hello Newt, I have a 50 chevy "tin woody" wagon in addition to a 54 deluxe wagon(same year as me, but not as decrepit) They are both complete but still project cars Michael g I'll try to get pictures on . This !*#!! is more complicated than it needs to be!
Sheet Metal Hello Michael It's always nice to talk to someone who shares your same interest, I was wondering, have you replaced any floor pans, rockers, door bottoms, lower quarters you know all the places that are prone to rust? I have surfed so many websites for sheet metal parts and they never seem to mention Wagons or Deliveries. Why can't these manufactures look at what the Tri-Five Chevrolet's have done for the industry as a whole, It's really amazing, the industry can supply just about every part to completely assemble a 1955-57 Chevrolet from the ground up, and it could happen for Wagons and Sedan Deliveries of the 1949-54 variety, just try and get that through their thick skulls not all collectors drive coupes, sedans, two and four doors. I would like to think that these companies or their suppliers have discussed adding lines of sheet metal parts for the Wagons and Sedan Deliveries, I guess they don't have a grasp on the market and needs of restorers and collectors, or they just don't care about making money, yeah right! Hey Ponder this, if these companies started producing new lines of sheet metal parts for the Wagons, and Sedan Deliveries, they would spark the flame that burns inside of restorers, collectors and fans of the 1949-54 Station Wagons and Sedan Deliveries, collectors would leave no stone unturned, they would hunt through every barn and every farmers field in search of every last wagon or delivery on the planet, because they know they could buy new sheet metal parts for their newly acquired classics, and just think we might have another industry explosion like the 55-57's and think of how many precious classic cars they will have saved from the hands of the crusher or the wrath and decay of Mother Nature. Oh sorry Michael I got caught up in the moment, I'll step down from my soap box now. I look forward to hearing from you. Respectfully Yours Gene
chevy wagon patches Hello Gene, enjoyed your message ,I agree station wagons are the red headed step-child of the aftermarket There are a couple outfits that have floors, rockers & patch panels for 50's wagons Chevs of the 40's 800-952-1749 and ems automotive216-541-4585. I've found that floors and rockers are the same as on most 4doors. Hope this helps. Enjoy the permafrost! I'll try to figure out how to get some pictures on this thing Regards, Michael G
Hey, gemnewt....got any progress pix of those cool wagons?? I love those but you disappeared with them! Post up some pix if you have been working on them. oh....and, did your wife's hair ever straighten out??
gene, I believe you are going to fit in just fine around here. Silver scares alot of us but his bark is worst then his bite...I think
Fannie....gemnewt joined on 9/4/09 and disappeared 4 days later. I happened to spot him here this morning so I pulled up his old thread and posted. He has a couple of nice cars that I like and that he was beginning to restore so I was hoping to see how he was doing. Unfortunately, about the time I posted he disappeared again.
There you go I'm on top of things again I didn't check the date I was just saying hey Good thing this isn't the Wild West...I'd be shooting first and ask questions later...
Hello Silverfox I'm still around but I haven't done anything on my car so I can't post new pics. I lost my mother and then I lost my only sibling my brother and then someone broke into my garage and stole all my tools and rollaway then to top it all off I had a heart attack and surgery which i'm trying to recupe from now. What's that old saying "If it wasn,t for bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all" well that's what it seems like and my only advice is if we have a lightning storm don't stand next to me. Don't feel bad for me i'll get back up I just need to get my head straight and some more tools. Well guys that's what I've been up to. my regards gene
I am VERY sorry for your losses, Gene, and for your health issues, too. Tools can be replaced; moms or brothers can never be replaced. Here's hoping that you recuperate quickly and, as you go on in life, you will be smiling every day with warm memories of your mom and brother.
I'll Try I know but i'll always have that feeling that I wan't to see and talk to them just one more time. I'm having a tough time being the last one in my family alive. I forgot to thank you for your kind words.
The Story of the Li'l Tin Woody Hey Silverfox While i've been recuperating I wrote a story based on the life of "Woodrow" my '51 Chevy wagon, I did have to use my artistic license to fill in some of the blanks. Could you tell me if this site has blog capabilities so I could post it? thanks gene
