I was all set to call this a bit of dealer orchestrated fluff, since I had never heard of a 'Versailles' Mark IV.........

Then, I looked up the '76 brochure.... on the next-to-last page

Nice, I had a 74 Cartier was gold with tan leather even had heated windshield and back glass not lines like a defrost has a gold color tint between the layers of glass . It worked so nice hit the de ice button and in less than 60seconds the wipers would clear the ice . It had a separate alternator just for the glass. Road like a cloud and never passed a gas station.

Holy Crap - what a car. Between this and the last Imperials and the Caddy Talisman in those years, we really had some over the top luxury rides back then. Heck, this car's interior is nicer than my living room's!

When a Lincoln was more than just a status symbol...
When you could actually tell the difference between the seat and comfort of a Ford, to Mercury, to the absolute top of the line plushness of Lincoln?
Shame they're all the same now...
Want a Lincoln? oh no problem now you're now just paying for the badge.

And none of them have the style and beautiful lines of days gone by. Look at the cars just from 1956-1973 every year they looked different and you could surley know one model / manufacture from the next, year after year. Heck when the new models were almost ready to be introduced they kept them hidden so the public would be excited to see and buy the new model year, now I have a hard time telling makes and models never mind what year they are as they don’t make many changes year to year.

And you will notice the auto makers see this so their answer is to quit making CARS.. SUVs and trucks..
Ford America is slated to keep Mustang and a Focus wagon... Yippee ( sarcasm)
Chrysler is now up in the air with new head but the only have the 300 and the Charger for normal sedan type... They very quietly dumped the 200 and Dart ..

Can't blame them. All the sheeple buy SUVs and trucks now. They make most of their money on SUVs and trucks. Why bother building cars? Of course this will all come back to shoot them in the foot when gas prices go up again and they have a bunch of parking lots full of SUVs and trucks they can't sell.
