Is it possible to install smoker windows without any major reconstruction? I'm quite a moderate smoker and I'm tired of having to crack the window to let the smoke draw out. The vacuum sucks out my hair as well, I'm tired of having my hair catch on fire from it blowing around and giving the lit end of my cig a nice warm hug. I've seen same year Gran marquis', if I can't I could at least replace the doors with the sw

Sorry to say, if you need vent windows, you'll have to start driving an older car. Constructing a window channel for a cut tempered glass pane to the curvature needed will be a challenge. Not impossible. Just James Bondish. You could, of course, go out and get such a channel from a junkyard and work it over on an English Wheel, to get the curvature. Then, rivit it onto your door, somehow

Smoker windows? Oh door vent wind wings! Either buy an older wagon as mentioned or stop smoking, which is healthier.

We once had a BBQ grille with a tinted window. That's smokin hot.
I loved my 1939 Ford door windows. Crank down slightly and window moves rearward a bit. Crank more to lower it.
You can buy plastic window awnings to keeps rain out. Maybe those will draw smoke out too.
Long ago you could buy small stainless or plastic vent deflectors to add to vent wings to keep air from coming inside.
I hate the late models with no vent windows. Gotta run the AC or blow my beautiful hair around and go deaf from the drumming sound.
Someday side vent windows will return. Everything old eventually is new again.
When I was a kid I wore fancy faded torn jeans. Those cost extra now!
I'll wait in the car while you have a smoke.

They were an option up to '89 so anything built after that will not have them. I haven't seen how they are installed, but it might be easiest just to find a CV or GM with the vent windows and swap them over to your car rather than trying to retrofit them to your car doors.

I suppose, it depends on what he's smoking, Sir. Clinical tests show...

An option on what? The only GM's I know of that had vent windows after the mid-1970s are trucks.

CV = Crown Victoria; GM = Grand Marquis Those are typical abbreviations on the Ford Panther platform world.
The vent windows were an option on either vehicle from '79-'89.

IIRC, the door skins were the same up to when the cars were changed to the Aero Panther style, so you want to look for CV/GM (I think the Town Car door contour is just a bit different) or wagon doors, complete, with the smoker windows. Bear in mind, these are not 'wing' windows, they slide down into the door, not rotate in place. The alternative is to get bobby pins and scrunchies for your hair....

Vent shades will help. See J C Whitney for old style.

I've already got the hair ties, but I swore I saw an 87 gm sedan with wings, unfortunately it was tboned so hard it shattered the drivers side and dented the other. The doors looked to be the same size, design etc etc, so I figured I could retro fit the components and windows into the xoors

You know, you may be right, as I have seen the wing windows with the rotary control knob, but I thought they were on the midsize cars, so I could be wrong there, but the power ones, the front piece retracts first, then the main piece retracts. That's what my friend Steven's GM has.

Well, it's a project that'll take time to piece together. Anywho I saw a 1987 CP for sale with 70k original miles on it with NO rust or probs, no dents and the wood wrap is mint. It's going for 1850, if I find it again I'll post on here if anyone in the VA area is interested. Man if I had the money id buy it immediately, oh well.

I would love to put vent windows on my 85 Colony Park, on the highway once you put the front windows down they seem to get sucked out and will not go back up into the track, have to slow below 45mph to get them back up. also remember this to be an issue when I owned my 89 Colony Park back in the 90's, my 82 Ford Crown Vic wagon had vent windows - loved them

Does anyone know if the Crown Vic/ Colony Park 79 thru 87 doors are inter changeable? just curious,
not about to change my doors out, get them repainted, rewooded (which won't match) just to get vented windows

Find it man!!! As far as the vent windows I’m not sure but I’m about halfway sure i pulled some parts off an 87 crown Vic that had the...what are those things??? Rain skirts? Maybe? The aftermarket visor type deal that goes along the top of the outside of the window? It allows the window to be rolled down about halfway before rain or wind come pouring in. Comes in handy for smoking too i suppose. I only smoke when i drink beer. Which is everyday when the wife comes home with more beer! I would like this dispute between Kev and joe to be solved. Both of y’all are so knowledgeable it would be nice to know who’s right on the windows. My $ on Kev. He knows about LKQ’s i didn’t even know about and they’re right in my own backyard!!!
