I appreciate the mostly factory appearance but dreaming at that price. https://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/d/1976-chevy-caprice-classic/6447809938.html
You think it would at least have the original breather, not that goofy thing that's on there, for originality's sake.
It's worth more than 2Gs solely for the interior and clean body, plus the AC appears to be working as it's been replaced recently and is hooked up. The stereo in the trunk (with aforementioned wiring nightmares that usually accompany such a thing) and the goofy wide whites are not big winners for me and that grill is a little out of place if you know these cars from their factory appearance - apparently aftermarket billet grills are a big seller on the '71-76 Chevy big car line, who would have thought? He could very well have $20k in the car if he's paid someone else to do all the mechanicals under the hood and install the stereo. Doesn't mean it's worth it, but more power to him.
He describes the paint color as "custom". In that case, one's left to wonder what the original color was. Since red interiors are often combined with silver, I suspect that the prone to fade silver was covered up with that fuddy gold. As already mentioned, the Goober'd air filter and butchered trunk somehow don't hold up to the asking price, despite it being an attractive (as viewed from the side) hardtop
Hahah! My oh my it’s funny how much geography plays into this ad. Let’s all remember he’s in Atlanta. Down here in the south we call this thing “a slab”. The driver would be called “a slab rider”. 4 doors on a car like this is more desirable than two. More room for the folks. The grill is an “upgrade”. The gold paint is also good as is anything gold. (Might match someone’s gold grill in their mouth). The custom emblem and giant subs in the trunk add $2000 and would be done by the buyer anyways. White walls are always considered an upgrade and can be described as “pimp”. Is that a custom sunroof?! Yeah, add another $1500. Believe it or not someone will buy this down there. Maybe not for $20000 but it will be close. Probably paid for in cash $. Probably All 5, 10, and 20 dollar bills dumped out of a brown paper bag
It's definitely a nice car. It intrigues me when you have guys call the car original, when they've dorked with a bunch of stuff that isn't reversible - sunroof, vinyl top, frame chops. Still not original even with the reversible stuff though because they still dont have the replacement OEM stuff aircleaner snorkel, grill, radio, decking.
Someone has sunk some real money into this one. I'd like it much better had it been left factory original. The boom box system is a serious turn off.
Not going anywhere at that price. https://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/cto/d/1976-chevy-caprice-classic/6519003372.html
It shouldn't be surprising. If he wants it to go anywhere any time soon, he'll have to undo the butchery. The sunroof's okay, though, if done in a professional manner
