    Hi there!

My '75 Grand Safari has a valve nearby the licence plate to adjust the HiJackers. It seems that it's worn out and needs to be replaced.

    I have two questions:
Is it a regular valve as its used on a bicycle?
Is there anything special about the replacement or just unscrewing the old one?

    Greetings from Germany.

They are the same as those used in the tires. Just unscrew the old one and screw in the new one. Your local tire shop should have them.

Okay, thanks. Now i found this pic, it's a T-shaped valve. Is it still a regular part available in a local tire shop or something special for HiJackers? I've never seen something like this before.

Wow! I was expecting a story about someone stealing the intake and exhaust valves while shopping at your German Walmart.

Using a valve stem removal tool just do as OldFox wrote. Or replace the entire valve stem and brass core.

My suggestion would be to pull the tee (I've talked to people who went to replace the core, only to strip the threads, destroying the air seal) and take it to auto parts stores to see if they can find, let alone order, one. They are available here in the US, if your search comes to nothing.

Okay, I'll show that to a tire shop, maybe they have a replacement part or at least they can tell me where to look for it here in Germany. Thanks to everyone.

That's okay. I was disappointed once before during my long life. I've almost gotten over it.:cautious:

That tee should be metal, not plastic. Even if the threads get stripped, the tire store has a tool to clean the threads up. The people you talked to must have had ham fists. Just replace the damn thing. Where's Tireman when you need him?

The newest one's are plastic, I'm afraid. They haven't been metal for a while now, although they should be.
