That is the optional center console design used from 1968 through the 70's at Buick. Minor tweaks over the years, but same basic design. Typically used in Buick A Bodies (Skylark/GS/Century) but could also be found in some Riviera's.
That same basic design was used in various GM platforms back then, such as the Camaro/Firebird. My late brother's '69 Camaro had the Chevrolet version, but mounted closer to the dash.
Ummm, pretty sure that was Buick only. The others may have looked similar, but I can assure you they were not. Only the odd screw or bolt would interchange. Bring one to a show where I'm judging interiors and I'll gladly take 10 points off the interior section of the judging form.
And I have always loved the "basket handle" shifters. GM brought these back in the late 1980s for use in the Oldsmobile 98 Touring Sedan. Very cool!
OK, to be clear, when I say 'the same,' I mean the same basic design architecture (basket handle, disengagement button, etc.), but not the same parts. Far be it from GM in the Sixties to make the divisions use the same interior parts.
I don't remember my 1970 GS that had the same style shifter having a gear indicator in the dash like this 73 does, But I never owned an automatic trans floor shift 73-77 A-Body, only a manual trans 73 Pontiac, and automatic column shift 73 Pontiac & 77 auto column shift Buick. But it does make me wonder if the console is stock, but if it is like the 77-90 GM B-Bodies its just a cable that drives the indicator off of the rotating color on the column, so they may just use the same back drive linkage and then the same gauge cluster. Nice looking car, the 73-75 Buick body style must be growing on me, I saw a 74 GS stage 1 at the last car show I went to, I even voted for it as best in its class .
Yes, your 70 GS had the same shifter and indicator in the dash. The console is completely stock. Different gauge cluster than the 70-72 A bodies, 73 and up are shown in your photo
