Had no idea the 351 was available on the Granada/ Monarch. Should move it along quite smartly. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1976-Mercury-Monarch-/253055795326?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368
At best, if it was a Cleveland. No belt to drive the Frigidiare A/C compressor should help it move even faster:
Actually, in '75, the 460 was an option in the Monarch and the Versailles. For whatever reason, though, the 335-series engines were not offered. And Cleveland production halted at the end of the '74 model year.
I think you're getting your models mixed up, Silver. The 460 was never available in the Granada / Monarch. It WAS available in the Torino / Elite - Montego / Cougar XR-7 mid-sizers.
I've seen Ford electrical diagrams for the '75 Granada/Monarch/Versailles that listed the 250, 302,351W and 460. Unfortunately, the Monarch I had years ago, I sold, and I threw those diagrams in with the car.
It's good to know that they instruct you on how to wire a compact for when it's time to drop in that big fat 460. Unfortunately, they leave the stuffing it in up to you. Strange that both 302 and 460 mills were standard on the Bronco. I guess, the 302 was made available for masochists, since the 460 didn't cost more:
That is strange. I've never seen a factory-trim early Bronco with a big-block. Plenty of aftermarket stuff-ins and rebuilds, but nothing factory.
Back in '98, the Towe Auto Museum in Sacto had a mid-'70s Monarch 2-door similar to this one for sale, except it had a 302 with an older Paxton or McCullough centrifugal blower. It was $5500, and I just did not have the cash to buy it!!!!
The first auction said "SOLD". The second auction just says "ENDED". I suspect we will see this one again shortly.
