Read the ad description for a story of incompetence and idiocy - this Cougar would have been better served by the Three Stooges. https://chicago.craigslist.org/nch/cto/6162661718.html
I know a little bit about this Cougar. The previous owner, out of Ohio, got it for a deal, without a title. Evidently, it's not easy to get titles for untitled cars in Ohio. It had the fork lift damage when he got it, because the owner before him had lost the keys. Ohio owner almost parted it out. He was having trouble selling the entire car, at an asking price of $600. I almost bought the seats, bumpers, and other misc stuff from him. But, he ended up finding a buyer for the entire car, who is the guy currently selling the car. I guess it's not difficult to title an untitled car in Illinois.
Sounds like a lot of work was done to the car to make it roadworthy. I don't see where the idiocy and incompetence is at.
That's what I see. Seller put some time into this making it a driver. A car like this is memorable, the seller wants anyone who knows the car to know the work he did to justify his new price. Details like what year and make the used radiator came out of might be unnecessary, but he's not hiding anything calling the parts new.
Moving and damaging a car with a forklift I call incompetence, even if not attributable to the current owner/seller. That's what I meant. New keys can be made if the original are lost.
Currently on Ebay, with a $1995 starting bid, and no reserve. He had a $2500 Buy it Now, which went away with the first bid. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1979-Mercur...ash=item238678bff1:g:XEcAAOSwjk9ZOw82&vxp=mtr
