thinking of roadtrip 2017 and where it will go. heard you can rent a jeep and go out into moab and the Canyonlands for some incredible scenery. Maybe even hit tombstone Arizona and the 4 corners monument. anyone been there?
I drove a semi full of dog food to Salt Lake City then up to Pocatello, Idaho for taters. There are some interesting truck warehouses the family may be interested in. Or the potato factory outside Pocatello, Idaho. The Indian reservation has cheap cigarettes and the Indian maidens are friendly. On a serious note, the drive along the Snake River is nice. Watch out for Bullwinkle and family.
Moab & Arches are both great parks, Goblin valley is a neat side trip if you have the time, we also did monument valley. The Scenery is incredible. There is quite a bit to do in Salt lake City also. I recommend it. We did it about 15 years ago.
I've been to the Salt Lake City area on a business trip. We have an office in Orem, UT. The scenery is beautiful. My co-worker and I had an extra day to drive around. We drove out Provo Canyon Road and saw Bridal Veil Falls. That road travels along Provo River. Lots of breathtaking mountains and views. It's MUCH different than North GA and East Coast mountains.
Be sure to use your engine brake in that old Dodge going down the little Rt 80 hill. You could become a Mormon and get your wife a few helpers.
Yes, I've been there 3 times for fun and a few more for work. I think everyone needs to visit Moab before they die.
Pictures just don't do any of that scenery justice. You're absolutely right, everyone needs to go to all the big places in the Desert Southwest. Only one I've been to so far is Hoover Dam.
I really don't give a damn! But we do like dams and dam tours, dammit! I've even asked dam questions to the dam guides.
Got the dam t-shirt: For Grand Coulee Dam, though. Got to teach my niece the Woody Guthrie song, "Roll On, Columbia." She could not stop giggling as she played....
