Here we are again, another year has passed us by. Meeting and greeting like minded folks with a passion for these family movers on this site is one of my favorite pass times. It has been an interesting year with some great times spent with family and friends. I hope you have had a good year with some memorable moments as well. One of my favorite moments was spending Canada Day weekend at our cottage with our family and a couple of neighbours, it was a great weekend. Sorry I have no pictures, they were on my phone, it didn't have such a great year, we lost all the pictures but I still have the memory. This was another memorable time spent with friends...
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE....as well. Stayed up until 2:00AM or so, partly to calm a 160 pound Mastif ('Chief') that gets upset with gunfire, fireworks, banging of pots and pans, etc. - yes, we had all that. Lasted about 20 mins. I'm ready to move on with 2017..........made a resolution to myself to not spend so much time on the computer, and actually get off my butt and DO things. Got a big list in my head....... (and look what I'm doing RIGHT NOW..........)
My wife and I actually stayed up till at least 12:15 New Years Eve. This was our first New Years Eve in a new neighborhood back in our Illinois home town. Amazingly the weather wasn't bad at all. Down in Florida with places far apart and mostly old people who go to bed early we heard only a few gunshots for a short time. Our next door neighbors here on both sides of our 1/2 acre lot love fireworks almost every night so we expected some noise. Between their guns and a truck load of fireworks they entertained us off and on from around 6PM until the finale' before and after the midnight hour. As far as I know no one was shot or lost any body parts. Either they stopped around 12:15 or my sleeping pill kicked in. I'm thinking it's January 2017 and we look forward to a great year back on Memory Lane sharing and making memories. Eggnog and black coffee was shared with my first wife. At the top of my list is taking care of our health issues, doing some exercise, and wearing out a new computer.----------And posting another 19,998 comments here. HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone on every side of this earth.
I didn't even realize it was NY eve until I was trying to find something to watch on TV last nite and all those damn specials were on. The wife, a retired nurse, is in Illinois tending to her sister who has terminal liver cancer and kidney failure. The day before, I was a pall bearer at my neighbor's funeral. We've lost 5 friends in the last 3 months. Luckily, we have no health issues yet and take no medications.
Holy cow that's a tough couple of months. So sorry to hear about your sister in law. I hope the new year is brighter for you and your friends.
Yeah, Fox, there by the Grace of God go I. You are fortunate to have your health, knock on wood *raps knuckles on noggin*, but losing friends and family is tough on the heartiest. So I just put on the headphones and watched comedy specials on Netflix till 2am. I just would like some improvements in my situation this coming year. SSI doesn't pay enough (the Eagle s#!ts regular but it doesn't s#!t much), and If I go back to work it will have to be full-time because anything less than that is worse because of SSA rules and regulations. If I could find a fair 40-hour-a-week job, i definitely would jump off SSI but I'll have a bitch of a time on medical insurance.
OldFox glad your wife gets to spend time in beautiful Illinois but sure sorry for why she had to visit and for all your losses. A lot of close friends are loosing family weekly. Since we have no friends and few older relatives left I haven't seen the inside a funeral home in years. Lucky I have small retirement check and we both get SSI. Living in a box under the bridge and finding crumbs near the bird feeders lets us lead a good life so I can buy computer stuff and cheap beer..
Hope everyone had a safe and happy New Year, and I'm sure we are ALL glad 2016 is over! Here's to a GREAT 2017! Take Care All! -Mike
