I think I finally have my keeper wagon. Bought a 1972 Chevy Kingswood, 512 cubic inch fuel injected Cadillac. Here is a starter picture for now image.png

That FI Caddy engine--is the FI a newer system, or did they leave the Bendix crapola on it?

Wow! Certainly looks beautiful. Those '67 Camaro SS 350 hood 'vents' add a nice touch.

You'll have to change your name to Swanny512 though....

It has the original system but newer Bosch injectors and uses a 60 pound GM fuel pump mounted in the stock gas tank. It runs awesome

The injectors were never the problem...it was the computer (which contains the MAP sensor) and the dizzy (has the engine position sensor). If either sensor craps out, you have to replace the whole unit. I had a '75 Caddy Seville with the FI Olds 350. When correctly set and dialed in, it ran like a raped ape. But without warning, the computer or dizzy would crap out and the car would not run. Hopefully, this will run well, and for a long time, for you.

The other problem with Bendix's electronics is that the computer drives the injectors open by switching the power side of the circuit, and the resulting inductive surge in the solenoid windings eventually burns either the computer's board or the injector's solenoids (remember, Bendix's system was a batch-fire system, where 4 injectors opened at the same time. Lots of current there). Bosch's systems that have solenoid injectors (such as L-Jetronic) control the ground side of the circuit, staving off damage to circuit boards and solenoids.

    Congratulations, the car looks excellent.

The term "Don't rain on my parade" comes to mind here.

Actually it has an aftermarket computer and the distributor issue has been upgraded and modified. The previous owner has driven the car 30,000 miles with no issues. The gentleman that build the car spared no expense to build this car correctly.

OK, I feel much better. And I apologize for 'raining on your parade.' But I ended up getting rid of my Caddy, beautiful as she was, because of the problems with the Bendix injection. Sadly, and perhaps a bit ironically, those problems were permanently resolved when the car burned to the wheels in a house fire not long after I traded it to a former friend.

Had I done a conversion like that, I would've used the Ford 460 setup, matched to the Caddy's firing order.
