Most people call them cute. That's the trouble and why we got this one. Sadly the Corvair power train, too small of wiring, and other things creates headaches.
We got ours partially rewired and just let it sit. Now I have to sell it so we can move.

Well I got some updates if anyone's still interested, the mini vent doesn't stay with the devider rail, I looked in my copy of the shop manuals, took glass out cleaned and adjusted it... and I think it needs to be glued to the rail... anyway other than that I replaced a blown fuse and now my interior lights work, key warning buzzer still doesn't and that was the same fuse. The auto choke doesn't work, I don't know if it's disconnected or miscalibrated. The rear glass goes up and down with the key in the back I found that neat, and while back there I pulled the spare... and I found this... 20160608_160321.jpg Either it's the original tire, or darn close. It's a sears road master made in France, original tire size not modern equivalent, date code if I read it right is 71? And of course the scary bumper jack! Now if I can get the mini vent working, the door locks lubricated and working (any ideas fellas?) And install the 3 row brass/copper radiator I ordered then maybe I can finally drive this more than a couple of miles.

From things I've heard those jacks are getting expensive. I've used alot of them and hate them.
Seems like you are getting things done. Someone may have disconnected the actual key warning buzzer or something. People hated those.
Show us this mini vent thing!

Awesome car man! I have been wanting a 75-78 Country Squire for a long time now. Just nothing nice close and cheap enough. Didn't know Mercury went hidden headlights 2 years before Ford. That is cool! And the interior is to die for.

Finding the original tire is cool. I have used a bumper jack many of times on my previously owned 69 Cutlass. Doesn't work real great when facing downhill and trying to raise the rear.

Are the locks electric or air (my 69 T-bird were air)?

BTW, is that a trailer brake knee banger I see?

I do not think that tire's original. I can't quite put my finger on why, but I think it's a later '70s tire from Sears and nothing else. The car could've come from the factory with radial tires, but the first radials didn't look exactly like that spare; they looked more like the bias-plies. I think that's what's sticking in my mind--the original tires still would've looked like bias-ply tires, even if they were radials.

    And where's the lug wrench?

Hmmm tire iron was not in the side where the tire was, maybe it was used to bean someone upside the head? :D
Yeah, maybe not the original tire... but close enough to say oh my god I'm glad I looked, and hey that's interesting, at the same time.
As for the locks, they're electric.
It has original receiver and trailer brakes, so probably.
As for the bumper jack, the one sound you don't want to hear when using it, that click click click click, as its falling down.:dead:

Having a hitch and electric brakes would be a plus for me.
I agree on that not being an original tire because Ford didn't buy from Sears.
Still it's close enough for show and tell.
I remember early radials always looked almost flat on the car.

I'm pretty sure a 'Sears'-branded tire would not be original equipment, since it's a re-branded tire (actually made by somebody else).

Frozen tailgate lock, don't know I the solinoid works or not but it's rusted solid. 20160610_111314.jpg it's all electric. Sprayed some PB blaster on it, although I think some rust remover would be better, it will all be for naught if the solinoid doesn't work. The two back passenger door locks don't work either, two only two that seem to work is driver and passenger, and then they stick so you have trouble unlocking them with the key.
