I said "odd duck" because the '56 Plymouth doesn't have the interest in collector car circles that Fords or Chevys have. There wouldn't be hardly any aftermarket parts support, either.

As to your engine choice, a modern Hemi could work, but I don't know how big those are. I don't think your engine compartment is very wide.....

I will measure te e engine bay on the Plymouth to make sure it fits a new Hemi.

I love the idea of a new Hemi in the Plymouth, and resto-moding it. I also like the idea of going stock with the 59. My father-in-law is currently having his 59 FORD convertible restored to stock specifications. It is turning out very nicely.

A newer Hemi sounds very sexy.

I also want to participate in the Panam Race.
I want to look into the rule book of the organization and maybe prepare the Plymouth for it.

Based in your knowledge and what ive read all over the ibternet, The 59 is defenitly is going stock.

Does anyone know where to look for vin # and if vin #s will tell me what color and options it came out of the factory with...

I say Rarity for the simple reason there are not near as many being restored or rodded. This can also be called an odd duck. People on the other coast speak funny.
Also I have a thing for a 2-door wagon.
Since they are your wagons and you plan on racing one the decision is entirely up to you.
If you plan on using a late model Hemi steer clear of the 03-04 years.

Welcome aboard! I really like the '56 Plymouth body style. I think it would make a cool resto-rod. I'm sure an early Hemi from that time period would be a virtual bolt-in. Probably would use the same engine mounts from a Dodge, Chrysler, or Desoto with the Hemi in it. I'm not a MOPAR guy, so I could tell you for sure.

The '59 Ford is alright, I was never too wild about that body style compared to a '57-'58...or earlier. No offense.
Both nice cars, though.

 

I really dont know what to do.
I am brainstorming with you guys.
Apparently both wagons are quite special.
As I am looking to sell one of them I guess I need to find out what the values are.
I can not keep both.
One needs to GO in order to finance the other.
The Plymouth is easy to fix a couple of things here and there because its a survivor.
So maybe she goes.
How ever I need to know how much each are worth.
I am in México and will ship one to Florida in order to sell it in the usa.
Any input on the values?

 

I also have a Desoto and have not been able to GO into the engine to see if it has a Hemi in it or not .
Now that one I am going to Race for sure it is a 4 door and I plan to cut up and make into a 2 door.
Maybe that engine woukd work oit although The Plymouth is a.survivor...

So I made it to the shop Today..
I had not been able to see the Plymout.
it is one cool and complete waggon.

I dont want to kill this survivor and restomod it.
It has a later respray, some bubles, and some patches on the floor where the chasis receives the body.
The rest of the floor is clean.
I will GO under it next week but Im beting its a rust free vehicle.
Both wagons I bought from a guy who had them in a Hacienda in the deseert of Leon.
So I figure no rust.

I will update next week.

But I decided to let this one GO and redo the Ford.

So if any one can help me with the value, I would apreciate it very much.
And also where to advertise.
I will send it to a budy of mine in Florida, so he can help me sell it.
