Hey all, I've lurked a bit,I love the cars and love the site. I live in Northern Westchester county N.Y. Although I spent a fair amount of time Down at the Jersey Shore .I spent my entire Childhood cruising around in wagons ,Late 70's-80's Caprice, Oldsmobile, and Buick Wagons. I'm a big time early Mustang Guy ( I have a bunch of 65-66 Cars) I've hung around, worked on,driven all types of early stangs Shelby GT500's, 350's,Boss 429 and 302's you name it,But I get weak in the knees when I see an old wagon ,especially one with wood on it ( real or fake) . I also happen to Have a 68 Country Squire . My Daily Driver is a 2005 Magnum R/T. My 68 Runs but needs some stuff to be roadworthy. I hope to get it running around this summer ( maybe). My father isn't a hardcore car guy but he still has A 94 Roadmaster wagon which I bought on ebay after Hurricane Sandy totalled his previous 94 Roadmaster a few years back. Owning Mustangs spoiled has me, Parts are available and cheap. 68 Wagon Parts..............Yikes
66HPGT to the group. Since you probably are not out riding around in one of your toys this is a good time to check this forum over and work on your wagon. Thanks for lurking so long.
Nice to meet you 66HPGT. Welcome to SWF. There are quality members here, I have a 68 wagon too, they are an excellent resource. Hope you enjoy the forums and find the parts you are looking for.
Welcome 66HPGT! I share you affection for late '70's - '80's GM wagons, especially the Caprice. I grew up in clamshell wagons as a little kid, then learned how to drive in an '83 CE...also in Upstate NY. The "long roof" era of the early-mid '90's, like your dad's '94 RM are eye catching too. Pics of whatever you have, but wagons especially, go a long way here. ;-) Glad you "outed" yourself after lurking about.
Welcome 66HPGT! I am also a Mustang fanatic so I would love to hear more about your past and present rides. Of course I am a wagon nut as well and love the late 60s FoMoCo stuff. It doesn't hurt that your DD is a magnum. I would have purchased one if they offered a third row. Anyhow, looking forward to learning more about you and your cars. Post pics and updates. I hope you are able to cruise that 68 once all of the snow melts.
Thanks for the warm welcome. I learned to drive in a 1977 Chevy Impala Station wagon I remember when my parents bought it new. Don't tell my parents but with about 8 of my friends in it ,That thing did great Donuts in the snow. My family pretty much drove it into the ground,Other Wagons came and went .My dad has always had a full size GM Wagon. As far as Mustangs to me they are Like M&M's I can't get enough. I have a problem with them ( hoarder, but kind of a neater one) which does explain alot about why my wagon sits a bunch,I have alot of project stuff. Since you asked here's my current Herd Remember you asked .LOL My Keepers (Hopefully) 66 Coupe 289 auto ( my first car bought it in High School, very sentimental,I'm currently restoring it ,needs every piece of metal lucky for me unlike my wagon parts are available and cheap. 66 G.T. Convertible (bought this for my wife back in 2002) she said I couldn't buy anymore cars......So I did the logical thing,I bought it for her. Nice looking car Red 4 speed with white pony interior, rally pac, console,PS. 66 Coupe Gutted Race car,I bought this because I couldn't pass up the deal.It was a road race car since near new,I couldn't verify alot of it's race history because I bought it from a car guys estate. This one I grabbed crazy cheap on ebay,I thought one day it might be fun,It sits I've never done anything with it yet, don't know if I will? Last but not least 66 K code G.T. Coupe 4 speed Pony interior, hence my name on here . Potentially they are all nice, some are currently nice others will hopefully get there. I don't have nor want any show cars I also don't go to car Cruises, etc. I enjoy working on them, driving them, and owning them. When I get free time I hang in the garage and driveway,if I'm not at Home Depot. I'm a very involved Dad and Husband so the cars take a back seat often, for now.I'm glad I've hung onto them though. As I said earlier I have a Problem, I know it........But I hope to never get cured. To try to keep myself in check( I can't pass up a deal) I do a bit of car flipping,The previous cars are my keepers. My current flippers are : 66 C code Coupe 289 auto 4bbl dual exhaust 66 C code Fastback (Tracked and first tried to buy this one back in 1988) Finally got it. 65 v8 Convertible project. I have the Magnum 2005 R/T AWD,Love it,Bought it when it was 2 years old, with 220 miles on it.Great fun car. It's the road trip car kind of like the Family Truckster. No third seat is a major bummer.I have three kids and a dog. Sometimes this car is packed to the point that the windows are bulging ........Ha Ha. BTW I'm going to look at a 67 Country Squire with a friend of mine this week for him . HE BETTER BUY IT.........so I don't Recently sold 67
Where in Westchester are you from? I grew up in the same neck of the woods. I now reside in Northern Colorado. Welcome!
Hey There, I grew up in Crestwood, which is yonkers, eastchester,Bronxville area Off of Central Ave. I now live up in Northern Westchester Yorktown Heights/Mahopac Area. Whereabouts did you grow up?
I grew up down the street from Port Chester, in a little town called Byram. Byram is actually a part of Greenwich. We used to drive up to Kent Cliffs (Carmel) many Sundays in the family wagon. I used to go to Mahopac often. Have not been there in about 14 years.
I know Port Chester somewhat, I worked at RYE Ford for a while in the mid to late 90's. I used to Hang out in Mamaroneck,Rye,Greenwich, etc. From time to time. Yea Mahopac is about 5 minutes away I live right off of route 6.
My, that is quite a hoard, I mean, collection. Glad to read you have your priorities right. Thanks for sharing.
How about yourself, do you have any old Mustangs at present? What have you had in the past? I always like hearing old car stories.
