Hi. I'm Jez. I live in the UK and been a wagon lover for a number of years. Two years ago I started looking into buying and importing a station wagon into the UK. June this year this 66 Pontiac came up for sale on eBay uk and was in Dallas TX, had to have it! Booked a holiday bought the car and shipped it to England. I am in the process of giving the wagon a major clean up as it's been neglected for a few years. Thanks for letting me join your forum.
Welcome Jez! It looks like a great score...and a cool wagon...and I like Pontiacs. Could you post some more pics of it for us to drool over? Do you belong to any American car clubs in the UK? Jack
I will post pictures when I've finished the clean up. It's a bit tight in my shop with two cars in there so things are taking a little longer than I thought. Paint has all been cut back and resin polished all in G3 products, come up pretty good for paint that been on for a long time! I'm cleaning up the interior at the moment with vinegar and water, cleaning the very dirty headlining a treat, smells a bit though! Not joined any clubs in the UK yet but will join the Pontiac owners club soon.
Jez, What's the car along side of the Pontiac? It appears to be some sort of English Ford...Anglia....Hillman...?? It does look like it's raced according to the cage, external cutoff switch, and terminals.
Jack. That my 61 Ford Anglia 105e that I've had for 30 years. Small block Buick 2 speed powerglide 9" rear runs mid 10's on the quarter mile @ 133 mph. Don't use it much nowadays but when I do the car still give me a great buzz. I plan on putting a tow bar on the back of the wagon and tow the Anglia to the drags. How cool will that be!
Jez, Thanks for further describing the car. I guess my Anglia guess was accurate. That's a cool little car. I could picture it being towed by your Pontiac wagon. Man, would that attract some attention. What type of small block Buick are you running? A '70's 350....earlier 340, or 400...or nailhead? Years ago, I recall a guy down here that was heavily into Buicks. He was running a Henry J with a nailhead Buick in it...and was also building a nailhead powered Volvo P-544 for a customer. How are the tracks in the UK? Jack
Ah, so it's the little 215 cu. in. aluminum engine. The same engine used in Rovers, MGB-V8, early '60's Buick Special and Olds F-85, and probably a variety of other cars.
