Well this all derailed quickly... My work here is done :D

Anyway, as far as feminine or "Chick" cars go, this car isn't high on that list. Maybe that was the market idea, but I mostly saw them used as fleets, as mine once was. I didn't buy the car because it was a wagon, I bought it because it was $600 and I felt I could fix it for another $600 or so. So far that is panning out. I'm starting a thread on this Subaru as I er, "Fix" it. :D

If it runs and gets you from point A to point B and back it's worth the $600 and another $600 fixer upper wise. And if you're happy and all the feminine type ladies are happy, life can go on. What is a chick magnet to some chicks may be a manly man's wagon to others.

My work here is never done. There's always something to think about and decisions to be made.

    Nice!

Always good to see some more Subarus represented (and a fellow Virginian!)

I'm still keeping my '91 first generation 2.2 liter 5 speed Legacy rolling as my daily driver, and yes I'm looking forward to yet another winter running circles around most of the newer and more expensive 4wds/awds! :)

My only advise, if your Subaru has a 2.5 liter (probably does) please pay attention to any head gasket issues that may or may not have been addressed. You can easily search the internet for the details, but the short and sweet any late '90 to early 2000's 2.5 liters will need new headgaskets by 200,000 miles or so.

The good news is, one the weak original gaskets are replaced then it's no longer a problem. Also being a 2005 if you do have problems all leakage will be external (the late '90s 2.5 liters would mix coolant and oil internally, later motors were engineered to leak externally).

Thanks for posting, cant wait to see you get that Forester roadworthy and share some winter stories!
