Hi All, It has been a while since I have been here, and a lot has happened since then. I sold my 79 Chevy Impala wagon, and bought a TIN WOODY ! I have wanted a 50's (or early 60's wagon) since , well, for as long as I can remember. I found the tin woody at Back to the Fifties show in Minnesota last June. The price was a little high, and I did not have the money to buy it without selling the other wagon (and another vehicle). It took me until mid September to sell the cars, and luckily the owner of the 52 still had it.. Well we came to terms on the price, and the rest is history. The tin woody wagon is in decent shape, but the main reason I wanted it is because the 6 cyl. motor seemed strong and the body was very solid. It originally came from California so there was NO ROT ANYWHERE, but there are a ton of dents to work out. Jim
To lovingly sway back and forth over someone or something, with stars in their eyes. Icky, I know....
At least you asked Jim. Some members remain in the dark about most things. We are never too old to ask and learn. Sometimes even I learn something.
If you do it right, "swoon" means gasping, putting the back of a hand to your forehead, and falling backward. Or something. Gorgeous car, at least it doesn't have "tin worm".
Nice car........the older wagons do have some real class and are eye catchers. I would ,however, look online on how to take care of that wood. I have a few friends who have woodys and they all say that taking care of the wood is critical in keeping it nice.
I think you got yourself a great one and by the looks of it, it was worth the hard work of selling off some of your cars to get it. It's a great looking tin
Nice! I have a 1950 Pontiac tin woody with a Straight 8 engine. You'll get lots of attention at shows since relatively few wagons survive. Have fun!
