    ummmm.....well

Hate to burst somebodies bubble, but that's a 68, not a 67. Other then that, looks NICE!

Didn't realize they made the wagons in 4 door hardtops, specially in a Bel Air model, have always liked the 4 dr hdtps personally.....came close to buyin a 66 Impala 4 dr hdtp more years ago than I care to count!

    Sorry about the year mistake.....
And Chevy made the wagon, but in standard 'full center post' sedan-like form. This is a custom.

    I'd worry about body twist.

It's a body on frame; the twist comes from the frame, not the body. Even if the doors and body did have that "B" pillar, it's still gonna twist when the frame does.

I dunno...... no way to tell.

I do see that a fixed body strip has been added under the drip rail to meet the top of the door glass......

I LOVE it! It looks like excellent craftsmanship from the pics. I can't quite tell with the windows down but it looks like he cut the top of the door frames off and attached them to the bottom of the drip rail. Not sure how he got the windows to mate and seal between the front and back door (if he did). I would like to se it with the windows up to see what he did.

The more I look at it, the less I like it. It really looks too bulky with the window channels welded to the inside of the opening. Notice the cut just behind the top of the vent window so that part of the frame can open with the door. I don't even want to see how those windows seal up in the middle- if they even do. It would be soooo much better if he'd converted it to hardtop doors. I wonder if he did any bracing to the B-pillar when he cut the top off? The 4 door hardtops were much beefier in that area to keep the doors solid.

I'd take the Catalina parked behind it!

Yeah, I doubt the windows seal up in the middle as well. He should have got a donor hardtop 4 door and cut the sides of the roof off it with the weatherstrip rails and then used the doors from the donor.

Problem with that is that 4-door HT has a bit different shape to the roof, and those hardtop window seals may have a bit of trouble sealing. I think you guessed right as to what the builder did.

I sort of expected to find something on the internet about this wagon, but there's nothing. Guy who posted it on a FB group apparently saw it at a show, but had no other info.....

I am guessing that the windows have to be rolled down to open and close the doors. The hard part of doing something like this is to make it practical. I have had several ideas like this but I would NOT do it unless all the aspects of the finished product worked properly and sealed up right.

Like it or not its mine. It started as a regular ole post wagon. I took the doors and center post out/off and replaced with the center hard top post and doors. I then switched the rear door glass back to the post glass and converted the post glass to fit to the hard top doors. Which was a bigger task that i thought. The hard top door glass has the mounting posts molded into it and the post glass doesn't. SO BOTTOM LINE.......The windows are all factory power and roll up just like a factory hardtop and seal like the factory with the doors closed or open. The upper fillers are the wagon door tops cut and fit the body but I fit hard top seals so the glass seals correctly. The frame has been stiffened as well with and hand made x-member so no saggin'. Its not finished but I've been driving it around since 2006 or so with no issues. I was planning to chop it to remove the upper fillers but too many other "better" projects to worry about. open doors 2.JPG Dscn0453.JPG
