I start this thread With saying sorry for my Language. I try so hard i can, but perhaps i will use word or gramatic who is incorrect. But i hope you understand what i mean, and please give me feedback, wrong or right.. I have own my 73 Buick some years, and i have done a lot of Things With this car, i think will be interesting for other forum member. 1. Convert the car to LPG / propane 2. rebuilding 455 3. Replace the original th 400 With th 200 R4 4. Restore front seat With NOS vinyl 5. Restore switches and Electric contacts 6. Prosess With Paintwork, and painting. 7. Polish and restoring moulding before Assembly
I have no problem reading what you said 1. My 87 Buick is LPG/Propane....cheapest car I have to fuel 2. Well I only have a powerless 307 in my Buick 3. not sure I would go that way if I had a 455. 4. I have no problem with vinyl but if you are going to re-do it, maybe a comfee cloth/velour instead? 5. I will be doing the same:2_thumbs_up_-_anima 6. Hope to have mine in the paint shop within the next 2-3 weeks 7. Will be doing exactly the same!
If the 455 makes as much horsepower and torque is the same as with gasoline, you will need to put an auxiliary transmission cooler on, along with the factory cooler, or a large one (such as for a medium-duty truck with automatic), and bypass the factory cooler; the T-400 has a larger torque capacity than the T-200R4. Also make sure the transmission's throttle valve cable is compatible with the carburetor you use if you change from the original factory Quadrajet.
Well, thanks for positive feedback. In the evening i drive my car to the Paint shop.I`m so Lucky that i have 3 friends who help me With sanding and make it ready for Paint. I will try to upload some photo. Original my car is Taupe metallic, but now the car get an original GM color from 72`Golden Brown With cream white roof. The painter told me that i can pick up my car on Friday.
You'd be further ahead to find a late 80's through 90's 700R4 to bolt up to that torque monster if you're looking to put an overdrive transmission in the Buick.

Engine rebuilding and th 200 R4 customization Here is som shot from the Engine rebuilding and trans swap. I Mount a th 200 R4 in the car, and it drove fine. To get the TV cable correct i use a caster, and the meassure/angel is so excactly mounted it is possible. Of course i Mounted a externail oil cooler. I can`t understand that it will be trouble With a lazy 455.. . To clean the engine before Paint i use stripall. It is a Magic Product who remove Paint, rust and cox in one operation. se www.drakechemicals.no
Doesn't matter if the 455 is lazy or not, the higher amount of torque produced builds up heat fast. That's why it needs a secondary or bigger cooler to work with the 455. But the paint looks really good; did you have any problems with dust or 'orange peel?'
this is not a show car, so i use a pencil.... , and therefore it look like peel in the paint. I have mounted a externial oil cooler in front of the radiator. I will mount a instrument, so i can see the oil temp on trans too.
Seat and Interior I post some photo of the front seat. It was damaged, and i get it restored by high quality shop in sweden. http://www.billaderdoktorn.se/ . Just now i will do a light restoration of the side panel. Perhaps somenone can help me With links , where i can buy New carpet in the bottom of the panel + cargo room.
` Can someone tell me, whats metall it is in the Rocker Moulding i believe it is stainless, but it look like it is a kind of alloy or something in that way in the surface. It is very difficult to get a shiny surface. I start With 120 paper, and og upper. before buffing i use 1200 paper. The other moulding in elox alu and sta inless is ok. Here is only to do thing the hard way. Perhaps i need to replace some of the window moulding. From earlyer Paint job It is some marks from grinding paper.
