The last few years I find I have switched roles with my dad. I find myself asking him "Do you really think that is a good idea?" Just like he would ask me a few years ago! I turn down my road and see a black mark over 100 feet on my street. I think maybe my dad got a low tire on his trailer as he turned down the road. Then I realize, I am in his truck because I had to put tires on it yesterday. Closer I got to my gate, darker it was. I park his truck by his house and see the '55 out the garage. In January it developed a misfire and we just had other things going on. He shut his company down for a 3 day weekend and decided to change the plugs, cap, rotor and wires. One wire got on the header and was about burned in two but anyhow I ask," What went on out there?" and pointed at the "One Wheel Peel". All he says is ," I think we need to start looking for a posi rear end." and walks away!
I had a customer who was 79, and rode motorcycles in addition to driving cool cars. One of his bikes was a KZ 1100 (I think that's right...), and one day, he rides in to the shop to set up an appointment. When he gets done, my co-worker and I walk out with him to his bike, which he hops on, starts, says goodbye, and peels out, popping a wheelie on each gear!!
Some old men are still kids inside that old body. Stop complaining. Now your 55 runs good again. I recently discovered that the tri-five rebuilt posi center section I have stored in my garage is NOT!:banghead3:
The tri-five third member I have stored in my garage was rebuilt but is not a positraction unit as I was told when given to me when I bought my wagon back in the late 80's. I never needed it because I swapped rears for an 80's Nova/Camaro rear.
HA! HA! I like that little road you live down. Reminds me of Memory Lane where we may someday move only it's way shorter. Maybe you can find a nice tire store where you can get a matched pair cheap.
I just wish it was straight instead of those slight curves, I ended up looking at the trees once when we were testing the Malibu. I heated up the tires, got it up on the convertor and launched it...didn't heat the tires enough by the time I got out of it, it was already completely sideways! Eased it back to the garage, changed my shorts and 1tiredad and I both agreed that was enough for that day! And I think I may know a tire shop that can help me but I hear the assistant manager is a real piece of work!
Without actually being on our road it appears no wider than an asphalt bike trail and maybe 1/8th mile long. But it is straight with a slight up hill toward the end. Our place is only 300' or so off the main county road. I'm not sure what the neighbors would think if I accidentally peel rubber. I can already here them saying "there goes the neihgborhood." With a 200R4 and something like 2:73 gears it doesn't happen often. Our daughter and family are moving in till they get another house built. It might help prepare the others.
When I first moved there 16 years ago my road was just a little 8' wide red dirt road. I remember getting all excited when the Parish (Louisiana's version of a County) decided to black top it.
i thought that what cars were for to have fun!!! and what is more fun than peeling a little rubber off the tires??? besides peeling off "a lot" of rubber..
