    Hi,

I'm trying to determine the dimensions of the roof top luggage rack as fitted to the GM B body wagons from 1977 to 1990.

I'm looking to purchase a luggage rack cover and want to ensure it will fit within the two out chrome arms.

Can anyone check theirs and reply? I'm out of the country so can't get to my 1988 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I'll get you the dimensions inside and outside the rails. Need anything else?

Hi, I only need the length of the carrier rails and the distance between the outer left and outer right rails. Cheers

The one in the pic - '81 Pontiac Bonneville Safari.
    Measurements will be in inches....
Note that the crossbars are adjustable. My front one is all the way forward, but the rear one is not all the way rearward - it can go back another 3" or so....

Distance across, from outside of side rails: 41 7/8" - call it 42"
Distance across, inside the side rails: 38 7/8" - call it 39"
Distance from forward edge of front crossbar to forward edge of rear wind deflector: 57"
Approximate distance from forward edge of front crossbar to rear edge of rear crossbar, in its most rearward position: 55"

    Hi Krash Kadillak,

Thank you for taking the time to go out and get the measurements and photos.

The cover I've been looking at is 36" x 36" so it looks to be a fine fit for my luggage carrier.

Planning another road trip with three friends up the west coast so might need the extra space/cover it offers.

Your Pontiac Bonneville Safari looks to be in very good condition too. I like that your luggage carrier has wood grain on the side arms and rear air deflector. Something my Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser does not feature.

I only hope my cross bars will adjust after being in the same position for so many years....

    Thanks again.

    Cheers,

    Fenn
