Hey everyone, Just a note to say "Hi" to everyone. I hope you don't mind that I don't own a station wagon. I have been a car guy all my life but mainly in Ford Mustangs. I have a 1973 Mustang Mach 1, original and numbers matching. I am just completing a 3 year restoration on a 1969 Mustang Sportsroof. I just made a deal on a 1968 Mercury Park Lane convertible. Its been in a local junk yard since 1984. I wasn't looking for another project but the colony paneling that was on the side was faded but it caught my eye. Also being a convertible with a complete FE 428/C6 was to good to pass up. After a little research it showed this is a rare car. Only 1112 convertibles produced but only 16 known to exist with the factory option of colony (yacht paneling). I have number 17. I am awaiting for a Marti personalize report to tell me how many of the 1112 produced came with the colony paneling option. I found your website and thought it would be a good help and reference site. Since it has the paneling it's kinda like a station wagon. If nothing else it's as big as a station wagon. Mark
Welcome to the SWF, Mark. Certainly be glad to have you here. You would be the first with a Park Lane convert with yacht paneling. For those unaware, here's a pic of one: Jump in the water and join our discussions. Marshall
I've never seen one either. Nice wagon,,,,, er convertible. By the time you are here awhile you'll be hooked on station wagons. Kind of looks like a station wagon convertible!
Thanks for the great replies.. It is still in the local junk yard sitting on top of another 68 Mercury 4 door. Hopefully in a month or so, they will take it down and put it on a outside lift. I want to use their trailer powered washer and do some cleaning before I bring it home. The weather in Colorado is about 6" snow on the ground and mid 20's to 30's as a high.
