A 2.4 that's 6 miles deep is nothing, thank God. The Nisqually earthquake up here in Washington back on Feb. 28th, 2001, was a 6.8 at a depth of 52 Km or 32 Mi. Had the earthquake happened at 7 mi., the damage would've been catastrophic on the order of the Loma Prieta quake in San Francisco in 1989.
There is no "Fracking" being done in Oregon! Incidentally, there is no Fracking going on in Tarapaca Chile and yet they average 5 earthquakes per day! Oklahoma has had earthquakes happening for the last 150 years. It is my opinion that Fracking is not causing earthquakes, anywhere! That was a rumor designed to destroy the economy and raise oil prices.
I agree on the "fracking causes quakes is BS!"...There is fracking going on in 42 of the 50 US States, and only OK and PA have seen any kind of increase in quake activity of any noticeable quantity. And there is NO PROOF that the fracking causes quakes; just lots of hype and whining by those people that do not want us to be able to utilize OUR OWN resources. They frack in CA, and yet their quake frequency remains unchanged. California and Alaska are the two most geographically unstable States, to boot. In the case of Oklahoma, we are now number two behind California in the frequency of earthquakes, but not the severity of quakes. I think that with modern geology knowledge, there are more faults under Oklahoma that was previously thought, and now they are being discovered.
well said fracking is not new and is"change" from the normal way of looking for resources. and people dont like change expecially if they don't understand it. And nay-sayers prey on the fears of people.
Ruined my new radiator Fannie. If you must know... Car was down for a week till I could find another one. Now back on the road.
