350 V8. (not a Caprice as the ad claims - I got very excited. ) but still. http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/4787517287.html
In really beautiful condition. Only 2 things about these that say I would have to go 72 or older. I hate the 1 piece lift gate, and whoever thought that putting brake lamps in the bumper at the very bottom of the car should be shot!
I agree with both points, even though I do like the 73-77 GM A-body Wagons. The person I bought my old 77 Buick Century Wagon from actually liked the Hatch as they parallel parked in front of their house, and the hatch let them load or unload the back no matter how close someone parked. So an advantage I would never think of. And the low mounted tail and stop lights did cause me to be rear ended by a tail Gaiter once as they did not see the brake lights come on. They tried to tell the Officer they did not work. They still did after they peeled the Geo Metro out from under the Buicks rear bumper. This is a nice looking example of a Chevy A-body at a reasonable price.
Man, I could drive that! Some ralley wheels, lower it a little, dual Magnaflows.....all done! Jeff, that's the very reason I leave the tow ball in the reciver hitch on our tahoe. Plastic bumper covers slide right over the ball. So far, the score is 4 to 0.
As the ad reads- "1976 Caprice Wagon, One Owner, 350, AC, Power Everything, Red Leather Interior with 3rd row seating. Only 70k original miles. Immaculate condition, must see." This is a freaking cheap wagon, especially the one owner and 70K part if it is clean and loaded. I cant believe how cheap these types of cars are in the US. The only thing I can compare this too is a Holden V8 Torana and if it was nothing special just a nice original 1 owner 4 door with 70,000 miles (around 115 kms) it would be worth $20,000 - $30,000 plus, and they just keep going up from there.
This is actually one of the more expensive ones we've posted. These could be a real bargain. They do tend to have their trouble spots, though. For me, it's the interior on these that is usually the let-down. Lots of broken trim issues, massive sun-fading on the door trim panels and cargo area trim; other stuff as well. This one looks rather nice on the inside. Low on the options, though.
