What is the biggest tire/wheel combo I could put on the 1967 Country Squire without modifications?

Anybody who knows me will know what my response to that is. Stay with the factory wheel covers and white walls. I know, I know, I shouldn't be so narrow minded, but I can't help it. I'm old and set in my ways.

I know snooter. I know. Im going to go with a resto mod look. Im going to keep the paint and wood combo, but with airbrushed wood. Im planning on setting the car on air bags and putting some larger wheels and tires on it.

Tom, any wagon brought back to life to its former glory is a good thing.
    Go for it!

I know this is an old thread but…………….

I have the same question and no one has answered it yet. :)

What is the largest wheels/tires that can fit on a 1967 Country Squire without modifying the suspension?

OR, better yet, will these fit with the stock suspension?

FRONT: (Fairly sure these will fit as they are smaller than what I have on my 1967 Galaxie.)
    Wheels: 15 x 6 and 3.25" back spacing
    Tires: 215/70-15

    REAR:
    Wheels: 15 x 7 and 3.75" back spacing
    Tires: 275/60-15

I'm looking at a CS this weekend and hope to pull the trigger.
    Thanks in advance.

If you go smaller on the front, all you will do is increase the understeer, quite possibly to dangerous levels. These cars, especially with the 390, are front heavy to start with, and so understeer quite readily. Having had 7 cars on this same basic platform, albeit built in the 70s and 80s, I am too familiar with some of the handling quirks if you want a car that will go around the corners, especially when laden. Personally, I would, maybe, go for a 16X8 Magnum 500, which is available for these cars, correct back spacing and all, with not much more than a 255/50/16 or what ever gives you the correct diameter. The other thing to remember is weight, both static and dynamic. 215/70R15s are not normally an extra range tire, and they can get pretty squirrelly when the car is loaded.

    FRONT: Tires: 215/70-15 = 26.85" Diameter

    REAR: Tires: 275/60-15 = 27.99" Diameter

    Delta = 1.14"

This is a fun car for me not a daily driver nor a car I'm going to haul stuff in.

The tire/rim combo I asked about is just something I liked that I found on Craigslist.

While I'm not married to them, I do rely like them and think they would look cool on the car.

Is a 1.14" difference that big of a deal or am I just being stupid?

You might want to check with member Dr. B Smith (Brian), who did a complete restoration on a '67 Squire. I believe he's using the stock size, but may have investigated what would fit. He would sure know how much room there is in the wheel wells, and where you might have trouble with interference.
