Hey! I just found this fine forum. I'm from Ontario, Canada and I love old wagons. I've a 1969 Pontiac Safari Deluxe full size wagon I'm getting on the road. It's a survivor that I picked up off the second owner. It isn't a beauty queen but it's solid and with the brakes and a few steering components done is safe to drive. One day I hope to have it fully restored but for now I'm gonna drive her and enjoy. Cheers
Donger, Welcome to the board. Where in Ontario do you live? I live in Ottawa (old Nepean) in a suburb called Barrhaven.
I already plunked one in the gallery... http://stationwagonforums.com/forums/gallery/showimage.php?i=1253&c=19 To be honest I don't have that many pics of it yet.
When I was in high school my parents bought a 69 Catalina (not a wagon) and they salesman whacked the front very hard with a baseball bat. I guess it was some kind of sales pitch. My parents were always Chevy people and when my Mom drove the Catalina she left 20 feet of rubber in the dealer parking lot. She wasn't used to all that power from the big block. The salesman's eyes about poked out of his head. Nice Wagon?
:icon_drive:!!! My sister freaked out a few salesmen when she went looking for a new car. One sales man said he had never been in a car with a woman who drove so aggressive. Another put his seatbelt on midway during the test drive. Guess who taught her how to drive?
I am addicted to test drives! I can't go more than 2 months without terrorising a dealer. I'm not biased to one brand either. My list of victims include Toyota (Camry), Holden on several occassions, Ford, Chrysler (needed to cleanse myself after driving the Sebring) and even Hyundai have been pushed well past their ESP/DSC/TC lights.
