I saw my wagon posted on your forum and figured i would post some pics of progress on rescuing this old girl. I bought this from a nice guy out in Tuscon, AZ......(Thanks Tony!)
what to the group. Looks like a straight solid wagon that shoiuld be a fun project. How about telling us a little about yourself and your plans for the wagon. Why did you buy it? What are you going to do with it? How'd you find the wagon and the forum?
thanks for the welcome.(modelt1)....I found this forum from a google search for "station wagon forums"....I wanted to have a place to catalog this restoration and get some input from other wagon owners. This is the first s.w. i've ever bought....but i have always liked the old wagons. I have built lots of cars over the years....but now that i have a wife and 3 kids....i wanted something unique......that still had a "hotrod" feel to it.....but i could load up 3 kids...the wife the dog and all the camping gear and head out on a road trip in comfort with lots of room. seem to fit the bill. Fords are my thing....so i knew it when i saw it..(4 doors)...finally found something on craigslist that wasn't to far away from me that seemed to be in decent shape.
started stripping this thing down....nearly all the glass had been destroyed in this thing and the few pieces that were there...well...they aren't worth keeping. Definitely needs some floor pans....
piling up the seats and trim...... it was a complete car except for the glass and the holes in the floor.
good luck with the restoration i soon will be restoring 50's wagon too it will be comming home this weekend if all goes well. 1959 pontiac safari .. i got it for the same reasons to haul stuff.
