With so many local and large car shows, is there a legitimate website that lists up to date car shows by region and date. I can't tell you how many times I missed a show because I planned something else, not knowing about the show. This website would have to get event planners to acknowledge them of course. I guess if the car show planners don't know about the website, and the website does not know about the car show, I might not see it. On that note, what about the same notion for car museums. There are several smaller, mom and pop type car museums that I have come across that were closed before I ever got to visit. I presume this is because not enough people new they existed. FYI, I live in NJ. Luke
Luke that is a good idea. I know we are missing a lot of shows in and around Florida because we are not getting out to other shows like we used to. I'm amazed that there are actually car guys who complain about getting fliers in their cars telling about future shows. I do understand the possibliity of print getting on expensive seats but many even gripe about them on the floor or windshield. Same guys who gripe about kids touching their cars, others sitting around in lawn chairs, too much sun, too expensive to register, bla bla bla. I'd bet many are the same guys who trailered their store bought hot rod to the show. But that's nuther story! We like fliers. Those fliers were very helpful to us for future camping trips and car events. Up till lately we camped and went to car shows whenever we could. In fact, our camping trips were often planned around a show, museum, or swap meet someplace. There may already be a thread here for museums and shows. Many members do keep us posted. Here is all I have about museums. Most likely some are closed down and the times may have changed on others. Do as we do, call ahead or just add it to a stop if you are nearby. We've found if the place is closed there's always something else to do near. Classic Automobile Museums
The thing about these or any sites like these is that they are only as good as the information supplied to them. I always found that a very good way to find out about upcoming shows in my area was simply to attend a car show with my old car and leave at least one window down. When I would get back to the car later in the day, the front seat would invariably be covered with a half-dozen to a dozen flyers for upcoming shows put there by the people who organize these shows walking the show field and throwing a flyer into each show car.
Some areas have a magazine or paper that list a lot of shows. I know in the Rocky Mtn area, including TX there is the Latest Scoop. In MI there is Cruise news, There is one in FL but couldn't find it while visiting in April. there must be other across this great country. Tim
