Hello, I'm looking for pictures of station wagons used through the years as official cars at the Indy 500 Like these Olds in 1970 :
I've never seen a wagon as a pace car; they were always convertibles or hot looking coupes. I wonder if these Vista Cruisers were actual pace cars or used for shuttling people around with the 442 being the actual pace car. Just did a bit of googling and yes, the 1970 Indy 500 pace car was a 442 convertible. Oldsmobile did supply some Vista Cruisers with the pace car emblems as support vehicles.
This one's not an 'official' pace car/wagon. The wagon owner had vinyl wrap done to simulate the appearance of a pace car. This wagon's been for sale on and off for years. ------------------------------------------------------- Also found a 'pace car/wagon' thread on an Oldsmobile forum: http://classicoldsmobile.com/forums/vista-cruiser-wagons/18553-pace-car-wagons.html -------------------------------------------------------
I like the idea they has "press' "medical" titles on them .i have seen a free spirit wagon on PA and liked it ..even in 89!
